Here are a couple of sonnets inspired by my all-time favourite pairing, SasuNaru. The first one is written from Naruto's point of view, and the second one from Sasuke's, which is probably evident. I tried not to include any spoilers, but let it be known that these are set sometime around the most recent scanlation chapters—420 or so—in Shippuden. I was on vacation (if you could call it that) in the wilds of northern British Columbia for much of the latter part of this summer, without computer and internet access and even without phone service. So, I had to get pretty creative to stay sane and SasuNaru-ly satisfied, and these sonnets are the result of all that isolation. Haha.

I wonder if you know how truly much

You mean to me as brother and as friend.

It seems that you are blind to feelings such

As this, our bond, that I will try to mend

Although you still attempt to break it down

I'm sure that we both know we can't escape.

I must confess I wear them like a crown—

These threads that bind us two into one shape.

It kills me when I lose you yet again

To think that there is nothing I can do

But train and wait and grieve and hope, and then

Have all my hopes dashed by some word from you.

Reunions are at once both sweet and tart—

Opposing sides mean nothing to the heart.

It's funny how you think that we're the same,

That I'd be best returning to your side.

I wonder if you realize the blame

For what I've done lies solely with my pride.

You cannot know what vengeance means to me,

For you have not felt agony like mine.

With you nearby I never could be free

To have revenge and resurrect my line.

It almost hurts to see you try so hard

Because, in truth, though different as we are—

My weakness is—you put me off my guard—

I close my mind—you open it ajar.

It seems the ties of fate have bound us well,

As you, the vessel fair, can surely tell.

So whatcha think? I love the idea that Sasuke is Naruto's strength and Naruto is Sasuke's weakness. I don't really feel like explaining any of this right now, so please tell me if you are confused about anything, and I will clear it up. And any reviews are appreciated! XD
