Apples
You think nothing of apples,
Just a fruit to eat,
But apples are important,
Not only do they keep the doctor away,
But for years an apple tree,
Protected Narnia from evil,
It was planted by a girl and boy,
Who brought evil into the world,
Just as it began,
From the tree in the garden,
Which the witch stole and ate from,
They brought back the apple,
Of silver colour, they say,
And planted to keep the witch away,
It did its job for hundreds of years,
Until one day,
In a mighty storm,
It blew down.
Then our darkest days, did start,
The witch's 100 years of winter,
So many turned into statues,
But apples were smuggled in,
Then our kings and queens arrived,
At the time unknown,
But learned after,
The boy at the worlds beginning,
Had planted a seed from the tree of protection,
In his world,
His tree too blew down,
But he made it into,
A wardrobe,
Which our kings and queens,
Both came and left our world by,
But before they left,
They had planted an orchard,
Of many kinds of apples,
They would one day be grateful for.
Then only about a 100 years or so later,
Dark days fell once more.
No one knows how many years it was,
Before Queen Susan's horn was blown,
Calling back our kings and queens,
Peter Susan Edmund and Lucy,
Back to their orchard,
Now full of apples and over grown,
An apple supper they had,
Before the morning meal,
They saved a dwarf,
And with him exchanged stories,
Over a breakfast of apples and fish,
The dwarf not believing who they were,
Had a sword fight,
And archery contest,
(To try and hit a small apple),
Both he lost,
But it proved who they were,
They all gathered as many apples that they could,
And carried them to meet,
The rightful king,
Who gave Aslan's creatures a chance.
Now let us learn; fully, the extent of how important apples, and the apples of the tree of protection are to Narnia. To start we must begin with how the tree came to be and why. Then we will move on to who was saved by the apples, its demise and other apples of importance.
(Beginning of the history unit taught to Narnian children, from Rillian 'til the last king.)
If you have read my story The meeting you will understand sort of where this come from.
