[[A/N]] It's that time of year again! Halloween, the one night when it's ok to knock on random strangers' doors to beg for money and sweets. And surprise, surprise, a cute little ficlet idea came to me while handing out cheap lollies to little kids =]
Knock, knock.
"Leave it."
Knock, knock.
"It could be important."
Knock, knock.
"It isn't."
Knock, knock.
"How do you know?"
Knock, knock.
Shikamaru sighed and stood up.
"I'm telling you, it isn't important," Kiba said as he laid his head on the back of the sofa. "I can smell the candy, they're just kids."
"We were just kids too, remember. It could still be important."
"Fine," Kiba said, closing his eyes. "Answer the door. But when it's not important I get to say 'I told you so', ok."
Shikamaru smiled.
Knock, knock.
Opening the door he was faced by four people wearing Hitai-ates.
"Just go with it," he whispered, winking.
The four people at the door smiled and nodded.
"What?" Shikamaru yelled. "When did that happen?"
He waited a few seconds before shouting, "They got Akamaru too? How the hell could they let this happen?"
He heard Kiba jump up from his seat and run towards the door. Smiling he handed the children handfuls of candy before closing the door.
"Is Akamaru ok?" Kiba asked.
"Calm down, Kiba," Shikamaru said, wrapping his arms around the smaller ninja's neck. "They were just trick or treaters."
