Ash and I were alone that morning. (That other kid had left to go fishing or swimming or whatever. I really can't stand that kid; getting in my way, diverting Ash's attention from me, keeping me from telling him my true feelings... But I digress.) I had already decided that this would be the day I told him. This would be the day I confessed my true love to him, and he would look deep into my eyes and say he'd always felt this way, too, and then we'd kiss, finally together...
Right then, Ash was sitting on a log, half awake, eating his breakfast of Wheaties and powdered milk. His hair was all mussed up (not that you can really tell) and he was still in his wrinkled pajamas. He's so cute in the morning!
I was still gazing at him when team Rocket attacked yet again. They didn't even try anything new, except being extra-quiet while they snuck up, grabbed Pikachu with the giant mechanical hand, and stuck him in the glass jar with a light bulb on it. Their balloon had almost floated away before Ash noticed it.
"No! Pikachu!" he yelled.(I wish would get that excited over me!) "Pidgeotto, Bulbasaur, Go!" He threw two Pokeballs and the two Pokèmon came out.
I looked at my backpack on the other side of the clearing, where I had stupidly left my Pokeballs. I wouldn't be able to get to them in time to help him.
It didn't matter, though, because Ash had everything under control. "Pidgeotto, carry Bulbasaur up to that balloon! Now Bulbasaur, use Razorleaf!"
Bulbasaur's Razorleaves shred the Meowth-shaped hot air balloon. Team Rocket dropped Pikachu, jar and all, as the balloon launched them over the horizon.
Ash freed Pikachu, and the two friends hugged. For a moment, I was jealous, but I pushed the feeling aside. After all, it's only a Pokèmon.
The jealousy was replaced by admiration. He was so great with Pokèmon, the way he treated them so kindly, the way he battled so intensely, the way he handled his balls (Oh my god, did I just say that? I did not mean it to come out that way. Really.)
Finally, I could hold it in no more.
I walked up to him. "Ash..." I said.
He looked up at me with that quizzical look that was so cute on him on his face. "I.. I wanted to tell you that...I..."
"Hi everybody!" a cheerful voice interrupted. Misty walked into camp, a fishing pole slung over her shoulder.
My hands balled up into fists. Another perfect moment ruined by that stupid kid!
Ash looked back at me. "What did you want to say, Brock?" he asked.
I hid my anger. "I think you should finish your Wheaties before they get too soggy."
"Good idea!" he said, grabbing his bowl of cereal.
Oh, well, tomorrow is another day.

Very evil, ne? This story started off as a little evil thought in the back of my head after reading a Ash and Misty Romance Novel one day, and a couple of days ago, It finally popped into my head just how to use it. I probably should have warned that it's a little yaoi (okay, a lot yaoi), but that would have ruined the surprise! Well, until next time, ja ne, minna.
