Beauty and Smiles
Suzu stared at the photograph in her hand.
Meiko was a vision of loveliness. The black dress, casual as it was, set off her hair, made it seem like it was sparkling. She was smiling just enough to brighten her face, just enough to draw you in. She looked like she was happy, but you could make her happier, and then she would shine that perfect smile on you...
Suzu loved beautiful things, and beautiful people. She often wished she could keep the beautiful people in her life in her room like she did her beautiful things: with her always, where she could look at that lovely, priceless object, and smile, and feel beautiful herself.
But Meiko, as much as she loved her, would be unhappy in Suzu's collection. As unhappy as she was without Yuu, Suzu thought. As much as Meiko smiled, as pretty as she looked in the incriminating photograph Suzu had gotten, she was smiling just enough to brighten her face. Just enough to look pretty, but there was enough sadness captured there that Suzu felt it was her duty to preserve her loveliness before sadness and unrequited love destroyed it forever.
When Meiko and Yuu were together, Suzu would see how beautiful she truly was.
And even though she would have preferred to be the one making that smile really shine, Suzu would still be able to bask in the light it cast.
Even if it was from backstage.
So, as tempted as she was to just keep the picture forever, to hang it on her wall with all of her other beautiful artifacts, she walked straight to the Bobsons where Miki worked and beckoned her over.
