Summary: lee's perspective, at the time of the mass funeral for the world

I'm all alone

Standing in a crowd

I can not feel a thing

Not for this shroud of emotion

I'm standing at attention

next to you

But I don't know you anymore

It's been two years

It may feel like yesterday

But so much time, has gone by

I once knew you as well as myself

But it's been two years, so distant

I'm surrounded by people

A thousand people,

Only two, who I know,

One stands before me,

Strong, confident,

Leading his people

The other beside me,

Distant, apart from those surrounding her

In this equation I am the unknown.

There are two shoulders

I would have cried on,

Two years past

We are mourning the entire world

But all I can see is you,

standing next to me

the last time

We did not stand side by side.

Separated by a coffin,

by grief,

by blame,

by guilt

All I wish now,

That if he had to die

we would stand by each other

Not opposite the other.

Worlds apart, thrown together

At the end of everything, but us

Friends once, soldiers always

Neither shed a tear,

For the world, ended long ago for them

Two years past, with the death of one loved

They each hold, pieces of the other

And of the loved one gone.

A puzzle with pieces that do not fit

But together, make a perfect whole.
