prolog

i sighed as i walked into my cluttered room. i carefully tossed the new game, SAO, onto the bed. i slumped into my chair, was it really worth waiting three days for that thing? i asked myself as i stared at the glossy new cover.

i sighed- which was becoming a habit- and decided to check it out, if i didn't like it, there were always guys online who'll pay big bucks for a copy.

ding

i looked at my screen, a small blue icon flashed at me. a new message, must be Tara. Tara had waited for the game with me, and had probably already gotten home.

you home yet?

the annoying click clack of my keyboard filled my ears as i typed my message, i should really get one of those new silent ones.

ya, just got in

k, lets meet in the game, i've heard that there's a orientation for players tonight in the town square. should B fun. :P

haha, logging on, see you in game

see ya

i stood and went to my gaming couch, picking up my nerve gear from the shelf.

"helo glitchy." i said, i had named it glitchy, since that was what it did, glitched. the higher the resolution and nerve connection, the more it glitched. sometimes throwing me out of the game, sometimes i also lose items, or my place in a dungeon.

i really needed to get a new set of nerve gear. perhaps if this game's real good i'll blow my savings on one. i loaded up the game and pressed and held the on button on the nerve gear, knowing that doing so would make it work better. i put on the helmet and saw the screen light up.

"link start."
