Becker's thoughts about Jess during webisode 1
She was crazy. It was the only thought he could process in his mind as he gaped around the new ARC and his new field coordinator. Becker followed Jess around as she pointed out and rambled on about the various labs and offices. Becker tried to soak it all in but he already knew that once he was alone later he was going to make his own circuit of the place until he had the building memorized.
Instead he contented himself with listening to the little stories she had of the each lab and surprisingly found the stories made him feel at home and remember the good days with his lost friends. He even smiled as Jess excitedly told him about Rex stealing her lunch one day and how she brought a portion to share with him from then on.
Then he caught himself stealing glances at her, first floored that someone let her walk around in a skirt that short and heels that high and second realizing she had an amazing set of legs. What he didn't realize is he blurted out that first thought and Jess taking it in stride just merrily answered Lester said the place could use some color. Mortified, Becker turned stony again; inwardly grateful he didn't manage to not say the bit about her legs.
Eventually Jess's grand tour died down and they made their way back to the main hub where she promptly handed him the files of the other team members without him asking. Becker quirked a brow at her instinctively knowing what he wanted. She then had the gall to tease him about Matt's CV and it took a minute for him to realize that's what she was doing and he couldn't help but get her back.
As he walked away to find his new office files in hand, Becker realized it was the first time in a long time that he had openly smiled since the he failed to protect his friends. He paused in the hall and turned back to Jess who was furiously typing away at large set of computers that defined the hub completely ignorant of his actions.
It was crazy, the ease at which she made him smile. It was the first time in a long time that he felt a measure of peace. Becker shook his head and continued on to the armory eager to find out if Lester fulfilled his wishes about weaponry. Maybe after he was done with his reading and inspection of the ARC he'd have to find an excuse to go back to the hub. It was nice to smile again.
I was watching the webisodes again to get some screenshots of Becker's sad face and this was the plot bunny that happened as a result. :)
