Okay so I wrote this during my math class on a bad day when I was thinking about this song...someday I might write a longer fic for this...if my best friend doesn't finish hers!

Don't tell me if I'm dyin' cuz I don't want to know

If I can't see the sun, maybe I should go

Sam's heart beat rapidly as he looked around anxiously for Dean. He had seen him just a second ago, but in the heat of the battle had lost sight of him. Suddenly, he spotted a familiar figure lying on the ground. It was Dean, and he was not moving. Sam felt as if someone was squeezing his heart in an iron grip of fear as he dropped to his knees beside him. There was too much blood covering his body.

"No." Sam cried as he frantically pressed his hand to the wound on Dean's chest. With his other hand he gently lifted his head and placed it in his lap. Dean's breathing made a strange gurgling sound in his chest and his clear eyes gazed up at Sam. His lips parted and blood, bright red against his pale face, trickled out.

"Are you...okay...Sammy?" he slurred, struggling against the pain to speak. His eyes traveled up and down his brothers form, looking for any sign of harm. Sam choked back a sob. Even while mortally wounded and in pain, his brother always thought of him first.

"Yeah, I'm okay Dean." He said, willing the tears to stay back. "Just please...don't talk. I'm going to go get you help, okay? Just hang on." Dean's hand reached up and gripped Sam's shirt.

"Please..." he gasped as more blood dribbled down his face and dripped on Sam's clothes. "Don't go... I don't want...don't want to..."

"Don't talk like that!" Sam said, taking Deans hand in his own. "You're going to be fine, you hear me? You're going to be fine." But even while he was saying it, he knew that both of them knew that wasn't going to be true. Even while he watched, he could see Dean getting eyes we slowly getting dimmer as the life drained out of them, like the blood draining slowly out of his body.

"Sammy...be safe, okay? I need...I need you to...promise me..." Dean was struggling for breath now, each one an effort.

"I promise, Dean." Sam was crying now, he couldn't help it. "You can't leave! I...I need you. Who will protect me if you are gone?" Dean tried to smile, but it quickly turned into coughing. Blood was covering both of them now.

"S'okay, Sammy..." he murmured, his eyelids fluttering. "S'okay...I'll always be here...for you."

As if in a dream, Sam saw Dean's eyes drift close and felt him slowly go limp in his arms. But he knew this was real, and at that moment he felt as if his own world had come to an end.

Don't wake me cuz I'm dreamin' of angels on the moon

where everyone you know never leaves too soon
