"do you have any idea how illegal this is?" Eve asked her face still and her voice calm on the outside. on the inside she was shocked. she would never have seen this coming. especially not from plain, old, boring, never been in trouble, keep to the law Mr Miller.
"i wouldn't ask if i weren't desperate." he stated handing over the small role of money.
"I am shocked to say the least. i would never have expected this of you."her order was called and Eve rushed away to fetch the coffee goodness from the counter of the college campus coffee shop. not even she would dare have the conversation inside Oliver's lair.
she handed him his and took a grateful sip of her own.
"Please I wouldn't know who else to turn to." the man nearly begged. "i can get you more money."
"No if I do this the money here will cover any expenses."
"I would owe you a favor Eve. A big one." Mr Miller was sworn to one of the more powerful vamps in town. Eve herself had no problem breaking the law here in Morganville. Between her cute roomie, who always seemed to be in the thick of it all dragging Eve along, and her own love of pissing the vamps off she crossed the line at least once a week.
"do you know the punishment if your caught." she asked again her voice lowering to ward of curious ears.
"i can survive the punishment. besides i hear you are the best."he eyed her wardrobe "you've got to be."
Eve sat thinking for a long time. he began fidgeting.
"fine. meet me her a week from today. same time and next time coffee is on you."
"thanks. so much. i will never forget this."
~~"what was that all about?"Claire asked as Eve buckled her seat belt and started the car.
"Mr Miller asked me to break the law?" Eve said calmly
"and you said?"
"of course i said yes." eve said giving Claire the duh look. "i was just a little shocked."
"oh ok. don't get caught. where's my coffee?"
the next week they met outside in the chilly wind Eve clutching a small shopping bag filled with cans.
"here." she handed it over as he handed her the coffee. she sipped it thankfully.
"Cans?""the loot is hidden in the middle." she explained.
"this means so much to me. My daughter demanded to get the series for her birthday. I have no idea how she heard of Twilight anyway."
"there are a few other books she might like. and the movie. tell her to enjoy."
