Hey everyone. Here is another drabble written for September Event: Back to School. I used prompt 22. (scenario) Joining a school club/extra curricular. I choose to write about joining the Gryffindor Quidditch team. I hope you all enjoy Hard Quiddditch Try Outs.
James Sirius Potter was one of the most excited people in the world today. He was trying out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team today. He tried out his first year because he wanted to be just like his father but they didn't even let him get far. Something about little kids getting hurt easier than the older children. James had tried to convince them to give him a shot but they didn't listen. But this year was his year. He felt it deep down in his bones as he laced up his shoes and headed down to the Quidditch Pitch.
"I see some the old familiar faces are here trying out for the team again," the Captain stated as he walked up and down the row of recruits for the Quidditch team. "This is not going to be an easy try out. If you thought it was you can leave the Pitch right now. If you are ready to work hard and prove yourself follow me."
James jumped onto his broom and followed the Quidditch Captain into the air. He would do anything to prove that he had what it takes to be one of the best Quidditch players ever.
"What position are going out for?" Jason Wood asked raising his eyebrows at the younger boy.
"Seeker," James replied excitedly. "Just like my father before me."
Captain Wood nodded. "My father was the captain the year your father was brought on the team," Jason told him. "I kind of thought it was load of wash not to let you try out last year but rules are rules. Good luck."
James watched the captain release all the balls from the case. Catching sight of the Snitch right away he raced after feeling at least one other person going after the tiny ball. He dodged and weaved around other players showing off all his skills as he got nearer and nearer to the Snitch.
"Get out of the way," came a voice behind him. "I'm not losing out to some little kid."
Ignoring the voice James reached out his hand and closed it around the Snitch. He felt something hit his broom from behind and that was the last thing that he remembered.
A few hours later he woke up in the Hospital Wing with his brother Albus and his friend Scorpius sitting by his bed side. Upon seeing James wake up Albus handed him a slip of paper.
The words written inside made his day more than anything else could have. The words inside told him that he had made the team he had tried so hard to get on since his first year of Hogwarts.
"I did it," he whispered to himself as Albus went to get Madam Pomfrey. "I did it."
I hope you all enjoyed Hard Quidditch Try Out. I can totally see James Sirius wanting to join the Quidditch team at the same age as his father and trying again and again until he did get on the team.
