She smiled to herself happily as she looked off the edge of the boat. She had found the artifact! The book had so many architecture tips she couldn't go to sleep last night; she had been too busy reading. She also discovered so humongous shark remains.
Annabeth and the rest of the team (the team was called Athena's Children) were brining it to a marine biology center to be tested. The center was near Annabeth's architecture project.
She was working at a local museum to construct a life sized Olympus. With this book, she would be able to make an incredibly accurate version of Olympus. Since the team had wanted the remains and Annabeth only wanted the book, Annabeth got to keep track of it.
Land came into view and in just an hour they had arrived at the center. Annabeth followed the team in. One stayed behind with her while the rest went with some of the employees.
"Are you done with that book yet?" Reyna asked.
"No, it's got so many details I can't even get through a page in five minutes!" Annabeth cried with glee.
Reyna smirked. It was clear Reyna had a thing for Annabeth. Reyna never flirted openly with her, however, because Annabeth had been through enough relationships for a little while. That last disaster was Luke.
They walked together around. They found a pool inside. The pool looked deep and had a rock in the center. They couldn't see any fish and they pool was far too wide.
"Can I see the book?" Reyna asked as they approached the edge of the water.
"Sure," Annabeth handed it over to her.
As they got closer Reyna tripped. She dropped the book over the edge. It fell onto the edge of the rock, barely touching the water. Annabeth panicked and ran over. She looked at her clothes. She couldn't swim over there. Her pants were far too expensive and her blouse was her favorite.
"I'll go get somebody!" Reyna ran away before Annabeth could explode.
Annabeth took a deep breath. This can not be happening! She thought over and over again. She wasn't gonna wait for whatever was in there to swallow the book. Reyna would take too long. Annabeth looked up. Not far was a support beam. A wire ran across it. She looked around and saw extra wire. She threw half over and caught it as it came back around. She tied it to the edge of the pool.
She took her shoes off and walked to the opposite side of the room. She took a running start and prepared to jump. As she jumped a hand grabbed onto her pants and pulled back. She slammed into the wall. The hand never let go and she hung on to the rope.
"What are you doing?" A masculine voice asked.
She looked up. A man with green eyes and messy black hair held onto her. His other hand outstretched for hers.
"What am I doing? Your the one who almost killed me!" Annabeth raged.
"Do you even know what's in there? I promise that whatever your trying to accomplish is not worth it!" He waver his hand trying to get her to grab it.
"The book! It's got so much information!" Annabeth wiggles trying to release herself from his grip.
"If it's not alive it's going to be fine," he promised. "I can get it out. Just let me get you out first."
She gave him her other hand and he pulled her up. He lead her to a room with a door that opened up to the pool. He grabbed a control and a hook cane out of the wall.
"My names Percy, by the way," He introduced himself.
"Annabeth," she replied swiftly.
He managed to get the book back without any damage. She was so happy she hugged him and promised to make it up to him.
"What's in that pool anyway?" Annabeth asked as she peered into the water.
"Nothing I can tell you," Percy smiled. "But, if you let me take you to dinner, I'd be happy to tell you."
