Outside it was raining, lightening flashed and thunder rolled across the sky which were clad with black storm clouds. Inside tears were been held back, all the angry words had been said and now the sound of draws been opened and closed were the only noise to be heard.
Tony walked down the stairs and to the door. Gibbs walked out from the living room and stood there. Tony opened his mouth to speak then closed it and picked up his bags and opened the front door.
"Tony..." Gibbs said softly.
"No, Jethro, it's not going to work...So don't say anything, please, it hurts enough," Tony said and then he was walking to his car and soon he was gone. Gibbs closed the door and rubbed a hand over his face. He knew that Tony wouldn't come back, but he kept telling himself he would. Maybe, through some miracle of miracles he would return and life would go on as normal. What was normal though? They'd been seeing each other for nearly eight months but within the last two months all they seemed to do was fight, disagree on everything and ignore each other. He knew he was to blame for some of what happened but he wasn't going to lie, Tony was as much to blame as well.
He walked back into the living room and sat on the couch. Why did things have to play out like this? Could he ever be happy? When would he settle down for good? Or was it that he was never going have any luck in that part of life, maybe his life was just work and a personal life alone, maybe that would turn out to be his future?
So the rest of the day was spent contemplating what he had done wrong, why he'd made Tony leave. He thought about what he should do with his life. Should he keep working, make work his life and not worry about love? Or maybe he should retire and find someone to keep him grounded? But that was just what Tony was doing, keeping him grounded. So maybe he could find someone like Tony? No, that would be a stupid idea, he could never replace Tony. He hadn't a clue how to live his life, the past eight months had been the best of his life...At least the best after he'd lost Shannon and Kelly.
