"Wow Rose! I can't believe that you can already summon your weapon!" Said a small pearl, looking about five or six years old. She wore a pastel blue sundress, and a wide brimmed sunhat that flopped over on either side of her head. Right beneath that hat, on her forehead, was a smooth, white pearl. She sat on the swings next to her best friend.
"Well, it's not really a weapon, it's a shield," The girl sitting next to the pearl explained, while blowing her bangs out of her eyes. Her hair was very curly, and was put up into two huge pigtails.
The pearl looked at her in awe. "I think it's amazing!"
"Yeah, well if you think so Pearl." Rose sighed. The rose-quartz gem was wearing layered frilly white shorts that looked like a skirt, and had a loose rosy pink tank-top that exposed her belly to reveal a pink, translucent gem with a pentagon-shaped cut. A rose-quartz gem.
"I wonder what my weapon will be! A sword? An ax? Why do I have to wait?" Pearl complained.
"You're weapon will be as awesome as you! Don't worry. I'm older than you, so maybe I get my weapon before you." Rose looked at Pearl with kind eyes.
Pearl felt a surge of emotion in her heart. This gem was so kind. How? They had only known each other for a few weeks, but Rose was the closest friend that the pearl had. And why would Rose want to hang out with her? All pearls are good for are looking nice.
"Hey, Pearl, are you okay?" Rose's voice broke Pearl's train of thought.
"Yeah," Pearl looked into Rose's eyes. "I'm fine."
