I don't think this story made much sense... It was awesome when I first wrote it...Then the next day I wasn't so sure... Anyways, another HitsuHina fic. Please enjoy!
Theme#72: Murphy's Law
Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach. There would be more HitsuHina and IchiRuki moments if I did. I also do not own Ichigo's theory. As far as I know, my dad made it up.The hintage within the theory is mine however. :)
Hitsugaya Toushirou slipped into the restaurant booth and sighed.
During one of Rukia's frequent trips to the human world, she had convinced Hinamori to come along. Of course, Hitsugaya wasn't about to let her wander around alone. But still…
Ichigo had noticed the captain's unusual lack of enthusiasm around Hinamori, and approached him while the girls ordered lunch.
"Well, aren't we Captain Cheerful today." Hitsugaya jumped and looked up to meet the orange-haired Shinigami's gaze. "You look even more depressing than usual. Something on your mind?" Hitsugaya looked down at the table.
"Hinamori…"
Ichigo sighed. 'Figures.'
"Every time I try to protect her, something worse ends up happening to her. I just…" He hung his head in defeat. Ichigo gave a small smile.
"Murphy's Law." Hitsugaya looked at him strangely.
"What?"
"Murphy's Law. It means that if there's even the slightest possibility that something can go wrong, it will," he said, taking a seat across from the confused captain.
"Right." Like that helped.
"Or the bread-and-butter theory." This time Hitsugaya looked as if Ichigo had grown a second head.
"Th—What?"
"Whether or not the bread lands butter-side-down is directly proportionate to how expensive the carpet is."
"…And that has what to do with me and Hinamori…?" Ichigo bopped him on the head. Hitsugaya glared.
"It means that the more something's cost you, the more important and precious it is, the more often bad things happen." Hitsugaya turned crimson and stared at the floor.
"…Ah…"
"Just relax. She'll be fine." The younger (>.>) boy nodded, and they both lapsed into silence. After a while, a though struck him.
"Oi, Kurosaki…"
"Hn…?"
"Is that why Rukia was nearly executed?" This time Ichigo turned red.
"Sh—Shut up!" It was at that moment Rukia and Hinamori headed over to the table with lunch. Rukia took her seat next to Ichigo, then looked back and forth between his blush, and Hitsugaya-taicho's smirk.
"What were you two talking about?" Ichigo twitched.
"Nothing!" he shouted. As the two started to argue, Hitsugaya looked shyly over at Hinamori, who smiled back at him. For some reason, he felt better. If something bad ever happened to Hinamori, he'd protect her.
Maybe Kurosaki wasn't as stupid as he looked.
Or maybe he is stupid, but we love him anyway, don't we?
Please tell me what you think!
