Title: Fallen

Summary: Kanda is a proud man, but pride takes us all only so far. He has finally fallen from grace. Drabble.

A/N: I was feeling deliciously angsty and decided to kill off the one person I LOVE killing off…Kanda Yuu. I wrote this for another site where I stick all my useless drabbles, crack and whatnot. I figured no harm in posting it on FF, too.

Warnings: Graphic Violence, Death

Blood seeped from his chest, the last petal from the lotus hung above his head having drifted away, falling to nothing.

He'd always wondered how his end would be like. He hadn't expected it to be so bloody or as lonely. He couldn't quite understand why, but he had always imagined that that bean-sprout and Lavi would be there to see him off. But the two were miles away and the Finders that had accompanied him had all been killed.

An unnamed Noah stood above him now, his expression one of confusion. "You're dying? That's weird. I thought you were a Second."

He didn't want to die like this, lying at the feet of an enemy; but he couldn't find the strength to so much as move his arm, let alone fight. This was truly the end. Death shrouded him like a heavy cloud; the end would be quick.

"This is depressing. I wanted to play some more," The Noah crossed his arms, his head tilted very slightly to the left while he watched the light behind Kanda's eyes fade.

Kanda breathed deeply, his heart slowing. He could feel himself dying. He had died so many times in childhood he hadn't even thought of death as permanence. Now that he knew this was finally the end, he had no fear or pity; he felt only regret for having not been more of an asset to the others.

Looks like you'll have to win this war without me, Kanda thought, his coherency flickering in and out while death eased over him. Shame I could never tell...that idiot...what I really thought...Suddenly, everything went dark. His eyes became dull, empty. Kanda Yuu was dead.

The Noah stared down at the corpse of this Exorcist who gave quite a fight in his final moments; he had even taken a good chunk of the Noah's hair. But now that it was over, he was left in overwhelming disappointment.

"Damn, that's a real shame. I always figured it would be harder than that." He leaned down and, with a frown, brought his foot down and crushed the young man's skull. That was surprisingly easy, too. "I guess this is a job well done?" He looked around. No one was left to answer him. "Then I'll just be leaving now..." Why was he still talking?

He backed away, staring at the battered remnants of his former opponent. That would surely be a sight to see when his 'friends' came to retrieve him. He'd consciously hoped it would be a woman to find him first.

With a barking laugh, he turned and began walking. Within minutes, all memory and thought of his fight with Kanda Yuu had been forgotten. It all meant nothing now.
