Situation=AU. I completely understand that JK Rowling said only Hermione finished school; however, my fangirl inclinations could not resist writing this after listening to the heart wrenching song "End of an Era" by Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls.
Thank you for reading this!
"I actually don't mind going back to school." Ron commented. He lifted his eyes to meet the skeptical looks from his best friends and his sister. "You know what I mean. I'm going to hate going to class, I still won't do a lot of my homework, but…I mean I missed this more than anything else when we were looking for horcruxes. Going back."
"Yeah." Harry looked down to where his hand was holding Ginny's, "I know. This was really my first home. And when it's all over…I guess I'll have to find a new one."
"You've got Grimmauld place." Hermione said, "Or you can come stay with me. I don't think my parents will mind. They're a bit awestruck about you since Kingsley came to talk to them after I had fixed their memories."
"Or with us." Ron offered, "You're always welcome at The Burrow."
Harry smiled, "Yeah. I know. Bet Ron and I can skip the same classes…"
"You two are not skipping classes. We're lucky McGonagall allowed us back in to finish school." Hermione scolded.
"Relax Hermione." Ron rolled his eyes, and Harry had to hide a smirk.
"I will with-hold kisses if your grade drops too much."
"Aw, Hermione!" He complained, "That's not fair." Ron dropped his head to hide his smile from the rest of them.
"What will you guys do next year?" Ginny asked. "I mean, Percy got a job from the ministry straight off."
"I think we might try for jobs, but honestly Ginny? Percy is still a lunatic. No one likes work that much. I don't think Hermione likes school as much as he likes working. I mean, he went right back to work after the big battle. He may be our brother, but he's a loony."
"Ron," Hermione grinned, "You've got something on your nose."
"Don't you dare," he said, sliding as far away from her as he possibly could, given their current seating positions.
"If you can't take proper care of your face, Ronald, other people will."
"Yeah. You and my mum!"
"Did she try to get it too?"
He frowned. "I'll be back. Happy?"
She held up her hands as he walked past. When he was outside she sighed, "He's always been challenging, hasn't he?"
Harry shrugged, "I honestly didn't see anything," he replied making both of the girls sigh. "What?"
"Harry." Hermione said.
"As much as we adore and love you." Ginny continued.
They both chorused. "You're still a guy."
"Have you guys been practicing that?" He joked. They glared at him in unison as well. "I think I'll go see Neville."
"Don't get up." Neville said from the door way.
"How was your summer Harry?" Luna asked from behind him.
"It was good. Uneventful, which is a change. How was yours?"
"Well, Daddy's was still recovering from his scare, so we didn't go searching for any snoracks."
Hermione couldn't resist rolling her eyes.
"This is your last train ride to school, isn't it?" Luna said conversationally, as she and Neville sat down next to Hermione.
"Yeah." Three of them sighed.
"We'll miss you all so much. Hogwarts won't quite be the same next year, I imagine." Luna said in her dazed, day-dreaming voice. No one mentioned how different it would be that year.
Harry made room for Ron when he returned (He had rubbed his nose pink, to no avail), and they talked about classes and friends, those lost and those returning.
And, because it seemed like the thing to do, when the lady with the treats came by, Harry grinned and said, "We'll take the whole cart."
Once again, thank you for reading this, and please review!
