Barnabas walks over the rocks, not letting the waves splash on him.
"Barnabas," Victoria calls out his name as she walks towards him. Barnabas stares at Victoria's figure, admiring it; the wind combing through her hair, shaping her angled face, her brown boots high above her calves complimenting her jacket covering her thin arms, and her dress curving around her thighs revealing the arches in her hips. "Oh... those birthing hips; how I'd wish to-." Barnabas shook his head stiffly. "Temp me not Satan."
"Victoria, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with Master David?"
"Yes, but he asked if I would give him a moment. He said that his mother needed to him."
"Um, yes, so, how is that going for you my dear?"
"Well," she hesitated, "I can relate to him."
"How so," he looked down at her, his hat casting a shadow over her face.
"I've had an experience like David's with a woman that visited me."
"Do you know who she is?"
"No. She tries to tell me things through signs, but they are difficult to figure out. The only real thing I know of her is her name… Josette."
She looked up to his wide-eyed expression. "Josette was the same name you called me when we first met."
"You've…known…"
"Yes, but I've known her for a very long time now Barnabas. Every since I was a little girl."
He stopped their pace and put his chalky hands on the sides of her face, ignoring the difficulty the sun was causing him to do this. He leaned in close to her and looked her deeply into her big brown orbs, Josette's big brown orbs.
"You resemble her so much. I often forget that we are from different times, but as much as you share this of Josette's," he rubbed her face with his fingers, "I have fallen for you deeply."
He leans into her closer to press his lips against hers, but she beats him by leaning to the side of his face and whispering, "I think I'm falling for you, too." And lands a peck on his ashen cheek; she steps back and leads him along the rocks.
