DISCLAIMER: I do not in any way own the character of Jack Sparrow. I don't own anyone else in the story except Caroline and the ones I've made up. Thank you.

Caroline Birmingham: not exactly one of the most confident maids I've ever met. She was young and impressionable when I first saw her at the Hangman's Jig in Port Royal. Very naïve. I enjoyed her. She was a breath of fresh air when all a pirate meets are women who are either strumpets or posing as pirates or even ladies who are tired of their stuffy lives. No, Caroline's story, God bless the lass, works in reverse. I think I, Captain Jack Sparrow, was the best thing that ever happened to her.

Don't believe me? Not like I give a tinker's damn. I gave Caroline her start. Sure, there were a few bumpy spots along the way (last time I saw her she was still holding that one arm as gingerly as ever) but she ended out all right. Married to a Navy officer. A house in Port Royal and one in Beaufort, North Carolina. Children. Not bad for a wench whose brothers were midshipmen their whole lives and who expected herself to work at a bloody tavern her whole life. Not bad at all.

And I did it. Me. Captain Jack Sparrow. I think this is the only relationship with a woman I've ever had that turned out passably well. I think I'll have another pint to celebrate that, love, what do you think?
