Mac's eyes flicked to the hood of the car and back to Veronica...was that a smirk? Veronica briefly considered some sort of reprisal, but if it escalated into a feud, both she and Mac would probably end up homeless, broke, and under federal investigation, so she controlled her anger.

'Besides' Veronica told herself 'the new rule is one feud at a time. Weevil said he could fix the paint-job this weekend. Just two days Veronica.'

"Get in the car Mac. I'm not going to explain, because its obvious that you know who did it already, and you know at least half of the why. So just get in so we can go to the movie."

Two days earlier

'Killing Logan would only provide a brief moment of satisfaction at a high cost.' Veronica reminded herself for what seemed to be the hundredth time. '...Although what a moment of satisfaction it would be. If only he would just shut up!'

Veronica's plans for getting some work done in Parker and Mac's dorm room while they were in class had been a huge mistake. That had become clear when Logan had shown up looking for Parker. Apparently they had a date after Parker's Lit. class. Naturally enough, he decided to wait for her here. Here, where Veronica was trying to work. Not elsewhere, where she could pretend he didn't exist. 'Ahhh, a world where Logan doesn't exist...'.

Logan chose this moment to interrupt her fond imaginings.

"How are things going with Duncan version two?"

What exactly had she been thinking when she agreed to try to be friends? It must have somehow made sense at the time.

"His name is Piz. Actually his name is Stosh, but he likes to be called Piz, the way you like to be called 'Go Away'."

One of the downsides of studying in someone else's dorm room is the inability to toss people out on their ear.

"Don't tell me I don't know a Duncan when I see one. The original was my best friend."

"A Duncan? A Duncan is a type of guy now?"

"Mm-hm. A Duncan is a nice guy Veronica Mars thinks she should like, and so does her best to do so."

And that was the straw that broke her back.

"When did you get so insecure Logan? When you saw your girlfriend in bed with your father?"

Logan flinched. His whole body flinched. Veronica felt a flash of satisfaction followed by guilt. Lots of guilt. She'd gone too far. Way too far.

He got up and basically staggered out of the room.

"Logan..."

He didn't stop.

"Frak."

Logan walked stiffly down the hall, but gradually he was relaxing back into stride. In a way, he'd been asking for it...well not that, but something. He couldn't help it. A grim smile appeared on his face. 'She's going to be feeling guilty about that for days, I don't even have to get her back for that one...but I will. I wouldn't wan't her to think that I don't care.'

"It's actually pretty subtle by Logan standards. Last time he did something involving a car, he skewered it on a flagpole." Mac said, presumably she was trying to brighten her day.

"In!" Mac obeyed, in a faux-meek kind of way.

Stenciled on the hood of her car, quite professionally, were the words "Duncans 4 Ever!"
