Author's notes: Based on the scene in Careless where Olivia demonstrates how the kid got the ring mark on his skin. I don't know if this is any good. Please read and review.
Not Many Reasons to Smile
In their line of work, reasons to smile and laugh rarely appeared. When the detectives did find reason to do either, there always seemed to be something that took away the drop of happiness that had only appeared for a split moment. That's why, the captain in the Special Victims Unit decided that it was his responsibly to make sure that his detectives were able to smile and laugh at least once every passing day.
As his detectives stood around the blackboard in the prescient, discussing the recent case about the child that had been killed, he stood there observing as they threw out different kinds of theories of what could have happened. One of his top detectives, Olivia Benson, walks up to him as she discusses her own theory of how the child had gotten a ring imprint on his skin.
"If they were holding him down like this" she explains as she wraps her arms around the captain's torso, and squeezes. "They could have squeezed tight enough to leave that kind of mark." All the scents that make up Olivia Benson floats around him, entering his nostrils.
Once the detective is done explaining her theory to the rest of the detectives in the room, she pulls away, and walks off to the side, and stands in between the captain and her partner, Elliot Stabler.
When she pulled away, the captain clears his throat. He turns to her, and says "Yes...thank you, Olivia." Then he adds softly, "I liked that."
There's a twinkle in the captain's eyes that show that he joking with her. The detective could either take his words as he liked the theory that she had suggested to the group or that he liked the way that she had demonstrated her theory on him. Either way, he got the desire reaction from his detective.
Olivia glances at him from the corner of her left eye, and shakes her head, chuckling softly, before resuming the discussion between the rest of the detectives.
It is true that Captain Cragen from the special victims unit treats his detectives different than a captain from any other squad or unit would treat his or her detectives. Unlike the serious captains from the homicide unit, every now and then he would allow himself to joke around with his detectives - an effort to get a smile or a laugh out of them. What with the things that his detectives saw day in and day out, they needed any reason they could receive, and he was just happy to be the one to give them that opportunity to laugh and smile at least once.

I don't know how I feel about this one. Let me know what you all think, please?
