Trial and Error

Prologue

The moment her boot hit the docks of Orgrimmar, she was ready to either break out into laughter or burst into tears. Or maybe both. She was free. She was finally free. Her future was her own to decide; no family business drudgery, no slavery, no crowded polluted cities, and she was no longer trapped on an island! She had even managed to make a little gold selling excess food she had hunted down and trapped on those stupid, wonderful tropical islands; Goblins love to eat and eat a lot after all. It goes without saying that Slambi Buckshot was pretty damn happy in that moment.

Then her raptor, a deep purple of the tropics, screeched her displeasure into the goblin's now ringing ear. Grumbling, Slambi rubbed at the abused ear as she started the hot, dusty walk to the city proper. Before she runs off willy nilly she had a few things to take care of; mainly repairs, supplies, and finding a home for the eggs her raptor, Chomper, beat her into bringing. Who knew raptors could be maternal? Scratching at the scar that replaced the end of her once long nose, she frowned as she took in the reddish dirt desert that was Durotar. Slambi didn't really know much of what's outside of Kezan, so she dearly hoped Kalimdor wasn't all desert. The heat and the sun were just awful and there weren't even any colorful flowers or leafy trees to make up for it.

Entering the city, the goblin was blasted with a cacophony of sounds only a bustling capitol could produce and only the force of the crowd around her prevented her from standing there slack jawed like a mook. Slambi walked around aimlessly with Chomper patiently following behind. Well, she was patient after she was fed a slab of raw boar meat that was mercifully cheap. Eventually she found herself at the engineering shop and began to haggle; her gun may be her most important and prized possession, but she wasn't going to pay more than she had to. Slambi still paid more than she would have liked, but she needed it in top condition. While she waited the goblin also stocked up on ammo.

The rest of the fading day was spent purchasing provisions, sleeping furs, basic first aid supplies, miscellaneous items she thought may be useful, and hawking the two eggs. There were a fair many interested, it was a shame Chomper drove so many off.

By the time she found two Chomper-approved buyers, a Tauren calf with his parents and a very excitable troll, night had fallen. As Slambi settled into the hard inn bed she grinned to herself despite the pain in her side - Chomper wasn't happy being left at the stables. Tomorrow her adventure would really begin, traveling from region to region hunting the biggest of beasts and profiting from their abundant meats and prized furs and leathers. She couldn't wait!

AN: Heyo, long time no see. As per usual with my multi-chapter stories, I don't really have an end planned out or anything. I tend to just start with a spark and see where and how far the flame goes. Good news is I'm already working on the first chapter so it won't be long before it's posted. Maybe.
