Jayne stepped off Serenity and onto Curios, one of the many border moons. He waited for about an hour as Mal and Zoe did business. As soon as he wasn't needed, he ran off to town, to a small shop next to the general store.
"Are they in yet?"
From behind the counter, a dusty blonde woman looked up from her catalogue. "I'm doing fine. I've almost enough to buy the land next door and expand the shop. And you?" She smiled to herself as Jayne blinked a few times and then recognized the sarcasm.
"I'm doin' fine. Thanks for askin', Shay. Are they in yet?"
Shay laughed and knelt behind the counter, unlocking a cabinet. Carefully, she pulled out a shabby black box and set it on the counter. "These, my loyal customer, are the best in the business. They can pierce the hull of a crap ship, they fly like a dream, and no half assed Alliance body armor can block it." With that, she flung the case open, revealing hundreds of bullets, packed tightly, shining softly. "Ain't never seen anything like it," Shay whispered.
Jayne snapped out of his stupor and slapped a credit card on the counter.
Shay raised an eyebrow. "This thing valid?"
"Of course! When have I lied to you?"
"That time when you promised to give me Vera if I could beat you on the range."
"I never said that!"
"You're lying. Your left eye twitches when you lie," Shay said as she took the card and rung it up. "Wow. It's valid. And can cover the cost. I'll deliver them tonight."
"Huh? I can't have 'em now?"
"Hell no." Shay pointed out the window. "See that nice man? He knows I'm sellin these beauts. And he'll search you as soon as you step out of this shop. He can't search me, though. So tonight I'll board your ship, give you the ammo, and leave. Deal?"
Jayne thought it over. "Those are awful shiny bullets. Deal."
Jayne woke up, partly. "Hey. Got my bullets?"
Shay held up the case. "Yep. You just go back to sleep now."
Jayne woke up, fully, hours later. Like a little boy on Christmas, he flung the cloth off of his gun case to fetch Vera, to load her up with the new ammo. But the gun was missing. There was a sticky note in its place.
You took my heart. I might as well take your gun.
Lurve, Shay
Kali here. Yep. I updated. Deal-ski.
Not much to say. Sorry. But I'm quiet today.
Please review. And remeber:
This is Kali; sleep deprived and out.
