After Night

I woke up to not knowing who I was one day or what I was to be exact. An orphan with a dream to be exact, a princess without a palace dreaming one day I would marry my dear Prince Sky.

How could I have gone from being in love with a prince to falling in love with a hybrid? or at least that's what I think. My heart aches, torn to pieces. I miss him, I miss Damon. He's no longer here anymore, for years I've been avoiding Mystic Falls and everyone from there. Part of me moved on from him and fell for the villain, there's just this part that won't let go of the past. maybe that's why I'm not able to make myself answer phone calls from my uncle or anyone for the matter. "how long till we get there?"I asked staring into the abyss of the night.

"Not long, not long…"Hayley's voice soften. maybe she was scared of the tomorrow. Oh how I missed New Orleans, home to everything magical that can be. little Hope was fast asleep, resting her head on my legs. I envied Hope, so innocent of what surrounds her. The sad part was that everything around her somehow was tainted and soon she would be too. Hailey has tried so hard to give her a normal life as far as she could but how long till something comes back from the shadows? not long that's for sure. The one time Stefan even came to New Orleans I was as away as I could possibly be from the sight of a Salvatore. I was scared of having to suffer once again. Although in the back of my mind I know I need to go back to Mystic Falls.

I can't make myself go through it, I can't picture the idea of dropping our quest to find Klaus. I promised him that last day that I would find him, when we were together again we would marry in London like he promised. Did I forget to mention that I was engaged to a Mikaelson? Well I am, at least the gold band with a princess cut 10 carat sapphire says so. I know it seems like I don't love Niklaus but I do, I fell in love with Nik after a while of his childish games. who would have thought that the most powerful immortal creature to date would have asked me to marry him?

"You know you can go." Hayley looked at me, "I made a promise to Klaus"I bit my lip.

"Your Uncle might me worried about you, I'm not asking you to leave Klaus, I'm just telling you that I'm not stopping you from going".

"I can't leave you alone on this quest to find Klaus, it's my responsibility."I shook my head.

"You promised to come back to him, you never promised to leave your family."Hayley stopped the truck.

I glared at her."I can't."

At the moment she snatched my phone from the glove compartment of the truck and started dialing a number before I could do anything without waking up Hope."Talk."She shoved the phone in my hands.

my hands were literally shaking as the phone made contact with my skin."Hello?" A male voice asked. Alaric.

I cleared my throat,"Uncle Rick, hey". I did not know how he would react to my sudden call after so many years of avoiding his calls and texts.

"Elizabeth?"His voice seemed calmed yet surprised.

"I'm sorry for the sudden call after so long."my voice was shaky, or maybe it was my body shaking.I looked at Hayley who was nodding at me waiting to hear the words I needed to say against my will."I'm going back to Mystic Falls for a few days, I'm leaving today."

"You are?!" His voice raised, it was like telling your father you got a tattoo.

"Can I not?" I asked curiously, hoping maybe I could slip out of going.

"No of course you can, I'm just surprised….. you can come and stay with me and the girls." His voice seemed to lower again like if something was wrong.

"Girls?, as in your girls?" I raised my brow, he has kids?

"Yes."

"Is everything alright?"concern hit me like a plague. "Just come. I'll pick you up at the airport or are you driving here?" He chuckled. maybe to hide something from me but I was beyond stupid or naive, something was truly wrong.

"I'll drive."

"See you soon then." he said calmly.

"Alright, bye Uncle Rick." With that I ended the call and shoved the phone in the compartment before looking back at Hayley.

"We can just compel our way to a car don't worry" She smirked. This was gonna be along night for sure. All I knew was that soon I would be in Mystic Falls and soon I would have my fiancé back.
