The small things
Neji Hyuga is not a vocal man.
He will speak when either directed or when the situation calls for it. Besides that, words hold very little meaning to the prodigy. They're there as a mean for communication, either in the polite converse of addressing your superior or deceiving the enemy. But when it comes to telling another, what you truly think or feel they're meaningless.
Like when it comes to her…
He'll open a door for her, letting her enter first. He does this not because that was what he was taught but to show her his respect.
When she buys new kunai, he knows that she will spend the whole day breaking the new weaponry in, getting a good feel for them, and creating more blisters on those tan hands. So, he'll take extra salve and bandages that day, as if to nag her about taking better care of herself.
On the foreign, over-night missions, he will take the floor. He takes it, no argument, because her comfort both physically and emotionally comes first.
She dreams of becoming a strong shinobi, so he'll let her carry what needs to be delivered. It's a gesture that simply tells her that her dreams are as important as his.
During those rare occurrences when they're both assigned guard duty, he'll let his eyes catch her brown ones, saying with unspoken words that even in danger he'll have her back.
And in those even rarer moments when she cries, he keeps his mouth shut. Not scolding her for showing weakness or offering words of comfort. He simply stays by her side, relieving his loyalty.
And her beauty, whether it's when she lets down her hair for a formal occasion or when she finishes her training, bruises and all, she holds such breath–taking radiance. And he'll smile during those moments, a true smile, because such rare beauty should deserve an equally rare response.
And when he kisses her…
All of his pent up passion is released, passion that he directs solely at her. His thumb will run gently across her cheek as if to say that hormones aren't the driving factor behind this display. His other arm will firmly wrap around her petite waist, a silent plea for her to stay.
No, Neji is not a vocal man.
Because, actions speak louder than words.
Something that popped in my head last night. Sorry if it's rushed, hope you still liked it. Please review!
