Greek Mythology Mega Prompt Challenge / Prompt : #16 Oceanus -Write about the Marauders

It was the first party of the term and also the first win of the Gryffindors in the Quidditch Cup. The Gryffindors were all pumped up for their House's big start that year. The party was sponsored and organized by the Quidditch team, which was lead by James Potter. Everybody knew James threw great parties- with or without booze. He was the life of the party, James was. And today, he's the star of it for winning the first game.

"Great job, James!"

"You did amazing, Prongs!"

"Congratulations, Potter!"

James gave each of them smiles of victory. He did work his team hard to make a good start at the cup. James invited people all over Hogwarts to attend his Homecoming party. Students from Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff all gathered in the Gryffindor Common Room to celebrate the defeat of the Slytherins in the first game. The atmosphere was great, the music was flowing and everybody seemed to be having a great time without booze. All except for his best mate, Sirius Black.

With a cup in hand, Sirius walked over to James with an annoyed expression. "Oi, mate, Moony told me you didn't allow the booze flowing."

"I'm Head Boy, Padfoot. I don't think it will be the best if I tolerate drinking." James earnestly said. He was proud of becoming Quidditch Captain and Head boy this year, so he took good care of his position.

"You're a bummer, mate. This party will be no fun." Sirius pouted.

"Go find yourself a lass to dance with." James waved him off, his eyes scanning the place for a certain redhead.

Sirius just grumbled under his breath and stalked off.

James finally spotted Lily by the Common Room fire, enjoying her Butterbeer alone on the couch. After a few months of not asking her out, James missed her terribly. As sick as it might sound, he yearned to hear her talk to him even if it was to reject his attempts on asking her to a date on Hogsmeade. He stepped closer to her to admire her from afar. She looked simply serene looking by the fire- her emerald eyes ablaze, her fiery hair glowing, her cheeks shaded with a rosy tint. She was beautiful . James didn't know why he couldn't ever get over her, and how she could reject him every single time. Was he that unlikable? He certainly wasn't that ugly , either.. He sighed and just made up his mind to sit next to her and finally talk to her.

"Hey Evans." James simply said, giving her a small smile.

"Hey James." Lily smiled back. James was flabbergasted- did she just call him by his first name?

"Enjoying the party so far?" he asked nonchalantly.

"I appreciate you not smuggling in some Firewhiskey. Well done." she chuckled. James nearly melted at the sound of it- he wanted to be the reason of her laughs.

"O-Oh, well yeah! I'm Head Boy, now. I don't think McGonagall will be amazed if she ever found out her beloved Head Boy maintained his bad boy attitude. It was time to finally grow up." he told her honestly.

Lily did see the change in him. He didn't ask her out anymore (which saddened her a bit, or a tad more than that) and he somewhat tamed Sirius Black, the Hogwarts menace. She like the changed because it made him likable.

"That's great." she smiled at him.

"Can we at least be friends, Evans?" James suddenly blurted out fast.

"Of course, James." she chuckled once more, amused of his reddening cheeks.

"R-Really?" stuttered James. Smooth. Real smooth.

"Yes, James. I'd like to give it a try at being your friend."
