Diaval watched from the shadows alongside his Mistress as the Prince leaned in to kiss her. He held his breath as their lips met. But it appeared his Mistress had been right. There was no such thing as True Love's Kiss. "I told you." She said before she approached the bed. He saw her break down as she lost the one person who had mended her revenge riddled heart. "I will not ask for you forgiveness" she whispered "for what I have done to you is unforgivable. I was so lost in hatred and revenge. Sweet Aurora, you stole what was left of my heart and now I have lost you forever. I swear that no harm shall come to you as long as I live. And not a day shall pass that I don't miss your smile."
She bent down and kissed Aurora's forehead, a show of the motherly love that Aurora would never know she felt for her. A tear slid down her cheek as turned to her servant and friend. "Come , Diaval." Maleficent strode towards the door but Diaval approached the bed where the child he had looked after for 16 years slept on. "I watched you grow from an innocent little baby to a girl who could have faced all the dangers of the world, because you had so many people who loved you and protected you. I protected you where those bumbling idiots you call aunts could not. Until the end of my days, Aurora, I will continue to protect you." His voice cracked and he bent down and kissed her cheek before turning to follow his Mistress
Maleficent turned to face him and froze at what she saw. Following her gaze Diaval turned once again to face the bed and could not believe his eyes. Aurora was awake. His little girl was awake.
Whoever said a mother's love was stronger than the love of a father?
