Disclaimer: This world isn't mine! It will never be mine!
Summery: I usually skip over stories about Snape having a daughter but this is different. I've always imagined him having a wife and child that were murdered by Voldemort. So here is my take on that. I may write a story about how Snape and his wife met or their life together. I may not. Tell me what you think.
Added note: After writing this a read story where Snape's daughter was also named Serena. It made me happy, lol. Oh and to Fred, I'm not sure who you are but thank you for the note about the spelling mistakes. Actually Elanor can be spelled that way. My geekiness allows me to know that Elanor was Sam from Lord of the Rings daughter.

Severus Snape once had a happy life, a good life. He was 20 when that all changed. But never the less he once was very happy.

Severus had a muggle girlfriend from age 15 to age 18 and a muggle wife from age 18 to 20. Her name was Perdita. Her parents were English professors at a small college very near to Severous' home.

At the age of 17 Severus and Perdita had an accident. Severus liked to refer to it as their pleasant little surprise. Within 9 months of said surprise being announced, Serena Elanor Snape was born. She was Severus's pride and joy.

Over the next two years, the three of them became nearly inseparable. After graduating from Hogwarts, Severus stayed at home and made potions so that Perdita could go to school. She was going to be a primary school teacher.

It was only a few days after Christmas that the unthinkable happened. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named had heard of Severus' fine potions and wanted them. He refused and without a second though The Dark Lord killed Severus' beloved wife and daughter.

Severus cried that night and cried even more when he found out that Perdita had been expecting. He went to Dumbledore soon after and was told to become a spy. He did this gladly so that maybe he'd save others from his fate.

It is sad to say but he felt a bond with Harry Potter and his friends, especially Hermione Granger. She was so much like Perdita; even her name reminded the potions master of his lost love. He'd never touch her, he'd never feel for her what he did for Perdita, but he felt a connection to her. He left her books in the hallway and sent younger students to her, for he knew she loved to teach.

One would think he'd get over Perdita, but he never did. No instead he lived his life alone. Sometimes he'd take a fondness to a person but never love. He wanted her back so bad and teaching felt like he had a connection to her. Had it not been for that feeling he never would have stayed at Hogwarts.
