Zoey was ignoring me, and I didn't like it.
Zoet was ignoring me, and I wanted to know why.
Zoey had been avoiding me as if I was the plague for a week, and I was sick of it. I decided to confront her. "Z. We need to talk." I said, finding her in the depot tunnels' kitchen. She looked up from her rootbeer, her and her damned brown pop, and gave me a curious look. "Hmm?" She asked. "Why have you been avoiding me?" I said, not dawdling, but getting straight to my point. She looked taken aback by this question. "Well... Um..." She started. "Well, um, what?" I wanted an answer. "I've been really busy lately... I'm sorry if it seems like I'm ignoring you." She stood up and walked towards me. She gave me a detached kiss and brushed past me, towards our room, which was, recently, always awkwardly silent. I didn't believe her. Even when she was busy, she could find time for me, because I could comfort her.
That evening, I followed her in secret after she announced she was taking a walk alone. I watched as she walked towards the east wall, and the ruined tree leaned against it. She waited a moment until Aurox materialized before her. I expected her to tell him to go away, but was surprised when she gave him a warm smile, one she used to give me. She walked to him and draped her arms around his shoulders. Aurox smiled as his arms snaked around her waist. I watched as my priestess and mate pulled Neferet's murderess creature's lips to her own. I tried to keep myself from gagging as I ran away, learning the disgusting truth of why Zoey was ignoring me. She didn't love me anymore. She loved that horrible beast.
