The Return Of The Detective

He couldn't believe that he had finally had the courage to ask her. In fact when he woke up this morning he had for a second thought the previous few months to all be a dream. But as soon as Harry walked in with her hair in curlers he knew it was real. He was getting married today. After what seemed like hours (and more than enough shouting from Harry) He was standing at the end of the churches aisle hair mercilessly smoothed down, in a crisp grey suit and a fresh grassy smell wafting up from his perfumed flower in his buttonhole. There weren't many guest but the ones that were there were all beaming at each other in anticipation of the bride. The church was musty and unfamiliar. He wasn't a very religious person but Mary had insisted and with the ridiculous amount of flowers and ribbons hanging from the rafters and tied to the end of the pews it looked much nicer than it did when they first came to reserve it.

He tapped his shoe on the floor the picture of a nervous groom his hands balling into fist despite his efforts. Then finally finally the music started. Harry and Mary's sister Gorgia looked lovely in knee length purple dresses but they weren't who he was waiting for. And then there she was. Short blond hair tucked behind her ears and he'd never seen a bigger smile on anybody in his life. He slipped his hand into hers as she stepped onto the platform with him and the pastor began his speech. John had never heard a longer thing in his life. Mary kept looking down at him her bright blue eyes sparkling with what he hoped to be happy tears. And suddenly the pastors monotone voice broke through to him. 'any man can show just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak, or else hereafter forever hold his peace. ' he knew nobody would say anything but that line still made him nervous. Nervous enough to make him jump a tiny bit when his phone when off. 'No' in no possible way did his text alert just go off when he was getting married! He was going to ignore it when he caught Greg taking his phone out of his pocket a look of slight embarrassment plastered onto his face. Molly's also. And Mike. And everyone in the church. John slipped his hand into his pocket clicking it on as he started to hear gasp from behind him. Three words.
