"No, don't go." Reed mumbled in his sleep, struggling to wake up. "No. Shane. please…"
"Reed…?" Shane whispered softy from the couch, where he was spending the night. He was initially meant to stay with Blaine, but he and Kurt had wanted some privacy and so they had kicked Shane out.
"Shane, no, don't leave." Shane could see that Reed was getting restless now, but he couldn't help but feel a little bit of joy at the thought of Reed dreaming about him.
"NO!" Reed screamed as he sat up, gasping for air.
Shane immediately went to Reed's side and tried to comfort his boyfriend with soothing words. "It's okay, Reed." he whispered softy "I'm not going anywhere."
"Uh- Sh-Shane!" Reed exclaimed as he tackled Shane into an almost desperate hug.
"Whoa, Reed. Calm down." Shane remarked.
"I-I'm just so glad you're here, Shane. I really am." Reed spoke softly, almost wishing that Shane hadn't heard him.
Shane tightened his grip around Reed's waist and softy whispered in his ear "I'll always be here for you Reed. Always."
"I'm glad you're here, Shane. At Dalton, I mean"
"So am I." Shane said as he broke into that beautiful smile that always made Reed blush.
And so they both drifted off still in each other's arms.
They were woken up the night morning by the sound of Kurt entering the room.
"Well I see you didn't miss me last night." Kurt teased when he saw the couple laying there, still holding onto each other.
"Huh, what? No. This isn't what it looks like, Kurt" Reed managed to blurt out.
"…." Kurt raised an eyebrow.
"Well, yeah it is, but no, nothing happened, I would never- I mean, I would but-" Reed was blushing furiously now, as he struggled to find the right words.
"Reed…"
"I mean I really like you Shane, I do. And I have thought about it- I mean no- yes, well…." Reed stopped, wishing he could somehow hide away from Shane's now widening eyes.
"Reed, it's okay. I was only joking" Kurt assured his now flustered best friend.
"….Oh"
Shane only laughed at the adorableness of his boyfriend.
"Anyways, I'll leave you two alone. Blaine and I are going to have a… study session." Kurt then left the room with a small pile of books in his hand. Not that he would actually be reading any of them.
"So what do you wanna do today?" Shane looked down at the smaller boy.
"Uh, I don't really mind…. as long as I'm with you." Reed shyly smiles up at his boyfriend, receiving the most adorable smile in return.
"I love you." Shane whispers and immediately looks away, face red.
Reed cups Shane's cheek and turns his head so that they are facing each other and softly whispers "I love you too." Then gently presses his lips against Shane's and slowly pulls away..
Shane stares dumbfounded for a while, then snaps out of it and hoarsely whispers "I'm thinking we should stay inside today."
And both their lips meet for a slow warm kiss.
