This is set before "Nerve." a bit AU...Stark is being held in the Gammak base and has a new cellmate. Thanks for any and all reveiws.
Scorpius's chair had left her head throbbing. When she closed her eyes, she could still see his face glaring down at her. His voice still rang in her ears You're only hurting yourself, Alere. My patience is limitless. How true he was.
He had ordered the guard to take her to a cell for a brief respite, before they would begin again. A fact of which Alere was grateful.
A peacekeeper penal complex wasn't the worst sort of prison in the galaxy, but it wasn't the best either. There were a few guidelines, but here on the Gammak base, prisoner rights didn't exist. They took her to a cell that was little more than a concrete room. There was no bed, and no amenities, and she had a cell mate, who was a man.
"No! No!" he started screaming once the door opened and he saw they meant to put someone in the cell with him. "I don't want anyone in here! This is my cell! Get it out!" The guards didn't seem to notice, or care about, his ravings and threw Alere on the floor. They quickly left and slammed the metal door behind them.
She was on her hands and knees, staring at the floor. She was reminding herself that after the many rotations in the chair, the room wasn't spinning, it was her head.
"Don't be sick on my floor!" he was yelling at her which wasn't helping her head. "My floor! Mine! Everything in here is mine! My mat! My floor!"
"Yes, it's all yours." Alere managed to get out as she closed her blood shot eyes.
"Yes!" he shouted again before running back to his corner. He sat swaying back and forth for a moment before inching closer to her again. "The chair is mine too." he whispered.
Alere looked up at him for the first time. He had a metallic mask covering one side of his face. His head was shaven and he had stubble on his chin. His eyes were as blood shot as her own, yet the creases in his brow and the circles under his eye, were more defined and she could tell he had endured the Aurora chair much longer than she had.
"You're a Banik slave, aren't you?" she asked, his expression clouded.
"You know a lot for a Peacekeeper drone." he backed away again, but this time his tone was deeper and less frenzied.
"Think about it…" she shook her head. "If I'm a Peacekeeper drone, why would I be subjected to their premiere torture device-one that extracts useful information?"
"If not a drone then what are you?" he asked but before she could tell him to mind his own business he bounded forward. "I know what you are…you're a present from Scorpy. A present sent to me for resisting the chair this long." He looked at her expectantly, the smile on his face was huge even though half of it was pushed down from the mask.
"That's right." she nodded, figuring agreeing with him was easier than arguing. "My name's Alere, and…"
She was cut off by the sound of metal clanking on metal. The heavy door opened and two guards entered.
"Out of it, Stark." one ordered. "Scorpius wants you."
"Scorpy?" Stark jumped at the sound of the name. "Scorpy wants me in the chair." he said to Alere as though it were a secret. "Spinning, spinning….Stay there!" he yelled after her as the guards pulled him away.
Alere collapsed to the ground. She wasn't going anywhere but to sleep.
