Purple

Just telling people about the day really. I hope you enjoy it though. ^^

Purple. Almost everywhere you look Big Time Rush fans, along with a whole bunch of other people, are wearing purple. It is October 20, 2010. People are wearing purple. The fans aren't wearing the color because of the band. No, that would be ridiculous today. It is not because of anything the band said either. It is simply because knowing and supporting the band means knowing and supporting the fact that the boys have relation amongst themselves. James and Kendall, Logan and Carlos, James and Logan, Kendall and Carlos… The possibilities are there. Who's with who hasn't yet been revealed to the public. Fangirls and boys alike speculate. But that isn't the point. Purple. When asked 'why,' you could get an array of answers. From 'I don't know' to 'my friend told me to.' Though they are wearing purple they don't all seem to know why. If you ask one of the band members, though, you will get an answer.

"We are wearing purple in support of all the LGBT people who have committed suicide and in an effort to reach out to those who are venturing down that same path." Kendall

"It's an anti-homophobia day. We're standing up for what we believe in. It's in memory of all the people who killed themselves because of the homophobia." Carlos

It's an anti-hate day. We're raising awareness to the issue of anti-LBGT bulling and suicides." Logan

"Homophobia is like murder. It may be indirect and it may not always be a big thing, but people still die as a result of it. I think that, if we do this, maybe we can get enough awareness brought to this issue to help prevent it. I know that we can't stop it all, but if we can prevent just a little bit… it would be worth it." James

I think that homophobia is quite a bit of a problem. A lot of people I know, including myself, are bi and, while it may not be as bad, we do seem to face a rather large amount of homophobia… It doesn't bother me that much, but some people I know take it pretty hard. It just isn't a pleasant thing to be on the receiving end of.
