The Animal Inside Us

Chapter 1 Difficult to remember the Past.

Mr. Reginald Granger sat across from his daughter, disappointment furrowed his brow. His wife, Gertrude stood behind him sighing unhelpfully at the fact that Hermione declined her Head girl badge in hope to help Harry's quest.

"Hermione" Reginald spoke in a clear crisp voice. "We are your parents and we want what is best for you…"

"Dad! For the last time! Harry needs my help!"

"I don't care; you are to be the best! You need a full education!"

"Honestly… you just don't understand!" Cried Hermione; running outside to her neighbor's hedges.

She climbed in to a small little opening and noticed a dirt covered book in the corner. Slowly she pulled at it and it came loose revealing that it was her yearbook, from grade school. Opening it Hermione read all the signatures she received from first grade, mostly in chicken scratch. Hermione's Teacher, however, wrote neatly and precisely:

Hermione

You have been a great addition to our class, stand up for yourself and do what's right. Your ambition exceeds us all and you will achieve greatness.

Mrs. Hagerman

Hermione smiled and turned the page seeing a scribble of a message.

Hermy,

Thanks for helping me with my math homework, see you next year!

Harry P.

Hermione froze her eyes widen as she read it. "Harry?" She thought skimming the book, Harry Potter? Sure as rain there he was, next to Harold Pressler, the stupid red-head who always put worms in her drink. Maybe that is why she never liked red-heads except one, Ronald Weasley. Ron, Ron, Ron, Ron, Ron, Ron… gosh… How they fought…maybe they were made for each other and maybe they we destined to be best friends forever.

Whatever happens, Hermione knows she must be prepared for the worst. Whatever the worst may be.

Suddenly, Hermione heard yowling from the house. Jumping she ran to her house seeing smoke rising with black hooded figures. Her Father was running toward her when the bright green light struck him in the back. A white wisp of smoke emitted from his body as he fell to the ground.

"Daddy!" She screamed, running toward her Family.

"Omnus autem!" A male voice pierced the air as black smoke engulfed Hermione.
