A.N: Ok. So far, my ideas are this, a special for Mello's birthday and a Christmas Special. The last two will be written as stated[hopefully] and I give you this.

I was really mad at my mom and I won the argument but by the time I won, it went really far and the first thing I thought of was, "I've finally won. But victory never tasted so bitter."

Disclaimer: I don't own Death Note.

P.S: Didn't you just love that chapter on Near when he's stacking? "But I will be very mad if you my cards over." xD

Near- 19[birthday: 8/24/1991]

Near sat amongst his city of cards and contemplated his first step towards the recent case, C-Kira, as he called it. An hour later, he had announced to the world what he thought about Kira.

3 days later, the killings had stopped and Near still sat amidst his growing city. But upon reaching the Tarot Card labeled 'Death', his mind wandered. Kira is gone. I have won. But at what cost? He cleared his head of the unwanted thoughts by metaphorically shaking his head. However, his hand had moved the card and his city fell into ruins. He sighed. Perhaps it was time to get out of the Headquarters for a bit.

Stepping into the lobby of the headquarters, he was met with a very surprised look from Halle, who was the only one there.

"Is something wrong, Near?" She was not used to seeing Near outside the monitor room.

"Nothing is wrong. I simply wish to go to my room." He said as he walked towards the elevator. Once in his room, he took comfort in sitting in his bed, which held scattered robots, dice and puppets. He picked up the puppets that represented the two whose company he craved: L and Mello. He played out a silent conversation in his head, wiggling his fingers as the character spoke.

"You have made a good choice in exposing the new Kira," L said. In Near's head, though the puppet made no movement, L smiled.

"Yeah, well, he wouldn't even have gotten this far without my help," Mello stated.

"Yes, Mello. And I thank you for your sacrifice." He replied silently.

"Sacrifice? I am not your pawn, Near!"

"I am sorry to have implied so Mello."

"Must you two always argue?" L asked. And before either boy[er… before Near could answer for either of them], L continued, "You two may have greatly surpassed even I working together and prevented the loss of Mello."

Near stopped talking, his finger stopped moving in response and his thoughts wandered again.

Loss… of Mello… He cleared his head again for the second time that morning and continued his play.

"Yes Mello. Had you not refused to cooperate, we would have been even more successful."

"Ha! I'd rather have died that work with you." A snap back to reality…

But… you are… Dead. Upon receiving this epiphany[sudden realization], Near forcefully removed the two puppets. He curled himself into a ball as he did when he was a child and he cursed himself silently for his mistakes, for he was unable to cry. In a matter of minutes, he became seemingly emotionless again and he stared at the two puppets of his lost beloveds. [Is that a word?]

Kira is gone and I have won. But L is dead… Mello is dead. 'I have finally won; but victory has never tasted so bitter.' Perhaps this is why they both eat so many sugary confections…

I didn't really know how to end this. And I'd like to state that I had my playlist on shuffle and the last song that played while I was writing that last sentence was Lollipop by 2NE1/Big Bang and it sort of, well, the idea 'popped' into my head xD Anyways, tell me what you think.

P.s: forgive me for any spelling or grammar mistakes. [it's freezing here in Florida! This is not the sunny state right now…]

Oh and for any of you going to Florida for vacation, don't expect warm weather!

P.P.s: I'm sorry I didn't include Matt in this! But he just didn't seem to fit...
