PERSONAL BUSINESS
"I'll have this viral sample sent to the government by tomorrow. I do hope you'll take care of it."
Ada sat beside him, her brilliant, intelligent eyes avoiding his gaze. She adjusted her seatbelt as he started the engine.
"Brilliant," Leon said, his eyes focusing on the road, "Consider it buried six feet under."
"Thank you, " Ada murmured and casted a sideways glance at him, her smile growing a bit, as if she was cocky, and Leon once again reminded himself that he had no choice but to let her face his agency when what he'd rather do was to tell her that she doesn't have to show herself to the Feds and give the sample anonymously instead.
Of course, he knew she wouldn't like that. Ada was always the tough one, and the "go-hide-and-let-the-bad-guys-do-the-job" approach wouldn't absolutely work on her. She'd be insulted by that, and he knew she wasn't someone you would want to piss off. She's proud, stubborn, gutsy… and lethally gorgeous.
As if she could read his mind, she crossed her left leg over the right one, allowing a chunk of her flawless thigh to show, like she was proving her point.
Shit, why aren't the aircons doing their goddamn job?
No, he wouldn't swallow, nor reach up to blast the aircon. He wouldn't want her to think he's affected by her presence, nor he wouldn't like her to notice the slight bulge in front of his pants. Knowing her, she would tease him about it, and by the rate they're going, they'd probably end up entangled and sweaty all over in a bedroom… preferably his bedroom.
Shaking the uncalled thoughts off his head, he focused on the road, with the idea of what might happen to her had the Feds change their minds started to sink in his mind. His face grimed as his jaws slightly clenched.
Damn it. Damn it all.
"Stop worrying about me." Ada said, her voice too low for him to hear.
"I can't." He countered back, swallowing hard, as if he was swallowing all his worries.
How can I possibly do that?
"You're not responsible for getting me into this. I could have said no."
"Why didn't you?" He asked.
Ada paused for a second, as if attempting to deny something to him… or to herself. "The money was too good to pass up. I need it to maintain my lifestyle, in case you don't know."
"Is that the only reason?"
"No-o-o," Ada said, drawing the word out.
Leon raised his eyebrows, waiting for her to say something about patriotic duty or saving the world or something. Instead, she grinned, batted her eyelashes, and said, "I also get to spend time flirting with my favorite agent. What more could a girl want?"
