Explosive Revelations
Disclaimer: I don't own Future Diary or the characters within.
Hey. Future Diary has, in the span of a few weeks, become the best manga series that I've ever read. It has a solid plot, multi-dimensional characters, and plenty of bloodshed. What's not to love? So, I decided to pay homage to it's awesome flavor by writing a fic about my favorite holder, besides Akise Aru: Minene Uryu. Enjoy.
Most of the world's problems, socially at least, could be attributed to one thing. God. Every nation, every people believed that their truth was the only truth, or if not, used their religion as an excuse to murder and kill because they didn't have the courage to fight under their own bloody banner. Her parents had been caught in the crossfire of a conflict in her home town. Minene could still feel their hot blood on her face mixing with the tears in her eyes.
Days later when she had found herself with a group of other orphans watching a stolen television, one of the men who had been a part of the shooting had the gall to stand in front of the camera and say:
"We do not advocate the shootings. We do not want to kill, but we must. Those who are caught in the crossfire are unfortunate losses, but-"
The rest of the message had been lost in the haze of sparks and glass as Minene punched in the television screen, cursing as the other kids tried to stop her from bleeding out from the cuts. Once the bandages had been placed on her, she stormed out, heedless of the warnings of further violence in the destroyed town.
Her revelation came to her just before the dawn of the next day. Some unlucky fighter had tripped onto a land mine and gotten himself killed. Minene had been near, attempting to shake him down for his supplies with a rusty knife, but thankfully the moron had taken the brunt of the blast, leaving her to take the concussive force that sent her flying into a pile of debris. It came to her then:
Terrorism was painful. Indiscriminate. Destructive. In anyone's hands it could cause irreversible damage. But in capable hands, it could make the world much better than it currently was.
She could make it better.
The following morning the terrorists found three of their best men dead, stripped naked, and most of their explosives gone.
The next day after those explosives were the last thing they ever saw.
How do you like it? It's my first piece in this category and you might have noticed I took a tiny liberty with Minene's past. Just a tiny bit. Tell me what you think in a review. Go on! Click the green button!
