.oO Pay Phone Oo.
The sky was perfectly dark, the stars were burning somewhere lightyears away. And glass shattered.
There he stood, his honey gold hair shimmering in the moonlight, his red eyes burned with a mixture of emotions- pain, guilt, anguish, hopelessness and worse of all fear.
He cursed as he looked at the pay phone, the door to which he had just shattered, glass covered the floor and the metal was bent out of place.
He wished, he could remember who he was. Who he was before he became the monster with beautiful golden hair and piercing red eyes. He wished that he could have met her some other way. He laughed bitterly, it was only thanks to this gift from Maria, this blessed curse that he was able to even know of her.
Jasper shook the metal box again, not caring the damage he inflicted on it any further. He had fucked up. He had screwed up again. She was young too, beautiful with short black hair and a stature much like his angel's...
She had tried to stop him. Pleaded to not go down this street, to not pass that specific shop. Jasper spat at the ground. He knew he was weak, he knew he was not worthy. But was it too late to try?
Could he ever rid himself of these devil's eyes?
He had given up hope, he had lived recklessly, not even caring for himself. And then, when all hope was abandon, left somewhere cold and alone next to the road, she had appeared. She came, picked up that weak old hope and nurtured it. She wouldn't have allow it to die- like he almost had.
He loved her. How plain and simple that truth was. If there was ever an absolute truth, it was that Jasper Whitlock loved Alice. He had been happy with her, knowing he never wanted to leave her side. As long as she was in his world, he was in pure paradise.
But that fucking girl and her fucking blood. He could not stop himself, he could not listen to her fears, he did not have the strength to let her live. Or have the will power to not attack Alice.
Alice who had tried to hold him back, Alice who was the love of his existence, his purpose for wandering the earth. She who promised a future of a loving family, and a better life.
He slammed his fist into the other side and watched as that glass shattered too. He turned to the phone and stared at it. He had no change in his pocket, nothing. He did not carry a cell phone, or even a wallet.
He needed her, he needed to hear her voice. Desired her touch, craved her presence in his life.
If he ever believed in fairy tales, she was his princess. And if happy endings weren't just make believe, if they were real and could even exist for a monster like him, then he knew, his was with her. Any other reality was just full of shit.
He thought he had no future, he thought the blood and the deaths were all that were left. He forgot what it was like, how humans lived. How it was to have something beyond the thirst, beyond the throat burning thirst.
He clenched his teeth, he heard the metal whine as his hands tensed. He had to find her, he had to be with her. He loved her, he would take care of her, protect her, never threaten her happiness, ever again. He shut his eyes, and drew in a sharp breath, he knew would have been jagged if he still had a beating heart.
Then he was hit by some small ball of momentum. He was knocked into the phone booth, all remaining glass shattered and the metal screeched as it bent out of shape.
Jasper looked down to see a head of spiky black hair and a pair of bright beautiful eyes.
"Car accident." Alice said giggling. She grabbed his hand and they quickly sprinted off.
Without a word his heart was whole again, without a word he knew he was forgiven. And without a word he promised himself to her.
Drabble. Done.
