New Beginnings
"Um, Ellen?" Seth called, "Why are you in my Vanquish?"
"Well…." I stalled, thinking of a semi-believable excuse. I had been sitting in the front seat of his freshly painted Austin Martin Vanquish making the sputtering noises like a child. Everything had been fine until I got cocky…. Pretending to crash wasn't' easy on a vampire. It was hard to fake pain…. Especially when you couldn't feel physical pain, except, of course, being torn limb from limb then burned…. I imagine that hurts…. A LOT! "Checking for metal eating termites?" That. Was. The. Most. Pathetic. Excuse. EVER. USED. IN. THE. HISTORY. OF. FOREVER. By association, I was pathetic for using it. Damn it. I resisted the urge to bang my head on the steering wheel.
"Find any yet?" He asked mockingly, a smile tugging at his lips. If only he knew how that pissed me off…. I had to think of a better excuse this time! I must not fail!
"Yes!" I cried coming up with the perfect one, "You have one hell of an infestation! Let me take this to my house- I mean- the shop! I'll fix it right up!"
"Oh, alright then." Hook, line, and sinker! Sucker!
I reached for the keys, and as my index finger brushed the smooth cold metal, my eyes widened with joy. Then, he snatched the keys away; I was so crushed with disappointment…. Seth laughed joyously. "Did you really think I would buy that garbage?!" He then laughed, making my temper flare and fill the gap between us.
"Jerk." I mumbled.
"Ellen! Seth! Anna!"
"Holly…." Seth groaned, climbing into the Vanquish and poking a lump of cold flesh in the backseat.
"Hey, Holls!" I waved at her and she trotted over to me.
"What's- " A snarl ripped through the happy atmosphere. Seth had obviously forgotten Anna's post-breakup-no-touchy rule…. Again….
Seth fell out, flat on his backside as Anna started yelling curses unheard of before at him.
I felt bad for him…. Who am I kidding? NO I don't!
