Preface

"You can't do this." He kept repeating his hands clutching her shoulders.

"Let me go." She said through her tears.

"It's me." His hand reaches for her chin. "Look at me." He pleads.

She put her hands on his chest, and he immediately leans in to her touch, he stopped when her scathing glare told him she hadn't done it out of intimacy but to put a barrier between them.

"You are not who I thought you were."

"They are using you to get to me." He said, his voice spitting venom.

"No they are not." She whispers. "For that to be true, there must be something between us."

His eyes pierces her, he didn't like what she was insinuating

"You are my wife." He enunciated each word.

"It's over." She said. He searched her eyes frantically looking for a trickle of surrender, but he didn't find it nor did he find resolve either. Her eyes were vacant and that's what scared him most. Her indifference.

"I will not let you do this to us." His face inches towards her.

He shudders when she gives him a dry laugh.

"There is no us!" She looks him straight in the eyes "I don't even think there ever was."

"How can you say that?"

"It was all a lie." She said softly, but it somehow felt like lashes to his ears. "So please don't make this harder than it already is. If you even cared for me at all, then let me go."

"Erien, I'm sorry." He whispers. "But you give me no choice." He said as he raised his hand to her face. Her mouth parts, but before she could utter her protest he swipes his hand in a swift movement and she falls to his arms.
