A.N. Just a short one-shot I had niggling in the back of my head. Enjoy.

'What the fuck do you think you're you doing?' Lily shouted, her face contorting in horror. The Marauders were joking amongst themselves, but her eyes were drawn to the figure in front of them. Snape lay strewn on the floor, hair covering his face, bleeding from a dozen cuts. He was not moving.

Sirius barked a laugh. 'Keep your hair on, Evans, we're just playing a game with Snivvy here'. He held his hand up for a high five, which James gladly returned. 'You don't understand' Lily shook her head, eyes wild 'You don't know what you've done'. She sank on to her knees next to her best friend, touching his cuts gently with the tips of her fingers, muttering 'No. No. Jesus Christ, please...'. She got no response from the black-haired boy in front of her.

Lily was desperately threaded her arms under Snape's armpits, struggling to drag him up off the floor. 'Help me, you worthless sons of bitches!' she snarled, her voice quavering slightly. 'Why in Merlin's name would we do that, Evans?' snorted James 'Leave the creep, with any luck he'll die down here and stop sliming up the castle for everybody'.

Lily shot him a look of such venom that even Remus raised his eyebrows. 'You don't understand' she said again, sounding slightly unhinged 'You have to help me!'. None of the Marauders made a move towards her. 'You know, I think it's pumpkin pie tonight' said Peter eventually. Sirius nodded thoughtfully 'I think I heard someone mention that' he agreed 'Your favourite, isn't it, Moony?'. Remus shrugged 'I'm more of a chocolate person, to be honest'.

Lily snarled in frustration and dragged Severus into a sitting position. Although Snape was thin, she was having considerable difficulty, as he was a good head taller than her. The Marauders watched her struggle dispassionately as she pulled Severus into her arms, grunting in pain and frustration as she managed to lift the unconscious boy. His head lolled drunkenly, and his blood began to seep into Lily's shirt, a red stain blossoming over her milky white skin.

'Not so fast, Evans'. The two tall, black-haired boys blocked her path. Lily's arms were shaking, her legs buckling. 'Move' she snapped. Sirius leaned his arm on the corridor wall and slouched nonchalantly. 'Maybe we weren't done playing yet' he smiled, baring sharp white teeth 'Leave him with us, we'll make sure he gets to the Hospital Wing ok, right boys?'. His friends laughed.

A groan drew Lily's attention. Severus' head rolled slightly, and his black eyes fluttered open. 'Sev?' Severus murmured from her arms. 'I'm here, Lily' said Lily desperately, brushing Severus' black hair from his face 'You're going to be ok, I promise, I'm going to kill them all for this, I'm going to make them suffer...'.

Sirius and James exchanged a look. This was beyond weird. Before their eyes, Snape's hair was starting to brighten, flowing like lava. Equally, Lily's hair was darkening, spreading down from the roots. Within moments, the two had changed places. It was Severus carrying Lily in his arms, and Lily who bore the result of the Marauders' 'game'.

Four mouths dropped open. 'Holy shit' whispered Sirius. Severus' black eyes met theirs once more. His back straightened, the load in his arms lightened considerably. 'I'm going to kill every last one of you' he hissed. Without waiting for a response, he adjusted his grip on Lily and strode off into the darkness.

Well, there you go. If you were thinking Lily was OOC throughout, you now know why. Please review, I love hearing from you :-)
