Fool's Rush
They were about halfway to the alley's entrance, when Kate heard a sharp cry from her left. She had to stop herself breaking and running for where Castle would be, he was hollering out, as it was his voice, raised in abrupt pain hitting her shoulder. She couldn't see a thing, she could hear him.
"Run for it Castle?" She whispered, as Castle nodded.
The sniper paused, stopped and looked before loading his rifle. Everyone thought.
They were sinking quicker toward the vastness of freedom, when Kate heard two shots close by.
Then all of a sudden Ryan and Esposito came running over. "We missed them Kate, Castle is with the others at the moment."Ryan says to relieve her tension.
"I need to see him Kevin, I was very worried."
Castle sat in the driver's seat of the police vehicle, staring pensively out the wind shield, his fingers drumming restlessly against the steering wheel, when Beckett came rushing, waiting patiently to speak with him.
When he saw his wife, he finally let out the breath he had been holding and looked at her apologetically. "Sorry, I wasn't much help Kate, I heard the shots, but I had to hide not knowing where the shots were coming from."
While Castle nodded, looking out again, as if he saw a ghost or something.
Beckett opened the car door, shaking like a leaf, then walked around to his side to get in to hold him into a hug.
"Are you all right Castle?" Beckett sat down next to him and picked up his hand to hold it.
"I am fine really, we need to get out of here right now." He paused for a moment.
"I agree, lets go home."
Later at the Loft...
Castle was drinking his scotch very heavily, his nerves were just shot at the moment, after what had happened in the alley today. God forbid, he never wants to go through that again.
While taking another gulp to burn in his throat and stomach, it's truly is amazing he doesn't have an ulcer by now.
When Beckett came out from the bedroom after taking a quick shower, she looked over at her husband sitting at the kitchen counter.
"What's going on with all this drinking?" She tries to take the glass out of his hand, when he pushed her away from him with anger.
She was shocked that her husband would push her away like that in the first place. "What do you think your doing Rick, drinking is not going to solve all of your problems, and besides we were lucky this time to survive."
"I just hope Kate that it never will happen again, with having to be a fool to rush into a situation like it again."
"And I will agree with you fully, now come on, lets go to bed for a little while, I am in need of comfort from my husband since he's in a mellowed mood from his drinking." She winked at him, as he gets up from his seat feeling his oats.
"I just might surprise you with a new treat or two." Before pulling her along.
"Oh really Rick." As she had stopped him in his tracks before moving on again into the bedroom.
THE END
