Too Shy for Words
Bruce sat in the chair awkwardly; he was never comfortable in an enclosed setting mostly because of the other guy. He glanced around the office, the elegance of it made him more uncomfortable. He should have known the offices at Stark would turn out to be this way.
Suddenly an Auburn haired woman walked into the room carrying a blue folder, "I'm sorry for the wait, Mr. Banner. Tony had misplaced the file it, but luckily I found it." As she said this, she handed him the folder then proceeded to sit down in her own chair.
"Thanks, but you can just call me Bruce." He tried to look over the file she had given him, but his hands trembled out of nervousness.
Noticing his uncomfortable state, Pepper gently smiled. "It's alright Bruce; you don't have to look at it now. Tony just wants to know what you think. I'm sure there isn't a time limit and if there is he didn't tell me.
Blushing, Bruce nodded his head. He set the folder down on his lap before turning his attention back to Pepper. "Speaking of Tony are you and him…" he trailed off, not sure on how to end it.
Pepper shook her head lightly. "Once upon a time we did have something going on, but we realized that we were better off as friends. Really I don't think we had deep feelings for each other."
Nervously Bruce ran a hand through his hair, "Good….I mean no not good, I'm just glad that you two…you know…yeah." He finished lamely. "You know what I'm just going to go thank you for your time, Miss Potts." He stood up awkwardly from his chair and remembering his manners he held out his hand for her to shake.
Pepper also getting up out of her chair shook his hand softly. "Please call me Pepper." Letting go of her hand he nodded before heading out towards the door.
"I'm free at five o' clock, I hope you're planning on taking me somewhere nice." she said, giving him a knowing smile.
Bruce's face turned redder as he clumsy tripped over his own two feet. "Right, see you then." He numbly replied, before leaving the office quickly his face still beet red.
