Hello guys! Alex here! So this is my first fanfiction in this site. Since I'm a somewhat a newbie, I would appreciate it if you would leave a review after reading this story! I want to bring to you a story in great quality, and I would need all of your suggestions so that I can improve my writing style.
By the way, thank you for choosing this story! To be honest, this story was stocked in my phone for a month, and only decided to write it here after some thought about it. Oh, this is a multi-chaptered AU/Post-canon fic and I might update it weekly if I never get lazy.
Without further ado, let's start the story!
Chapter 1 - A Memory
"Uhh..."
A girl with a black hoodie and a black cloak covering her body is riding a white stallion and is racing towards the forest. It seems that she is in a hurry, as if there are people chasing her.
She is panting and her face is drenched in sweat. Because her head is covered with her hoodie, one cannot determine her features quite easily. But with careful inspection, one can see that she's a very beautiful girl. She has a very good form of nose and she has an overflowing violet hair. Her most beautiful feature is her eyes. Her eyes are deep blue, matching the bright color of her hair.
"Traitor, there's no turning back now."
Suddenly, a grey-haired horse appeared before the white stallion, abruptly stopping the white stallion from continuing, almost making the rider lose her balance. The rider of the grey horse is a tanned man. The man has a black hair, and his eyes are hazel. He has a very intimidating air that surrounds him.
"What do you want, Mister?" the violet-haired rider asked the man standing before her.
"Oh, so you don't know why we're after you, traitor. The long ride to escape us has probably exhausted your brain to the point it stopped working for you to understand, huh?" the man smirked maliciously, launching an insult that seems to be not connected to what they were just talking about.
The violet-haired girl gritted her teeth because of anger.
"Who do you think you are to speak such insults?" the violet-haired girl said.
"I am a knight who stays true to what his master commands," the man answered sarcastically while bowing as if he's a prince that happen to escort a princess.
"No need to put your shameful self in a respectful way, Mister. Just tell me what business do you have with me," the violet-haired girl said with a deadly glare present in her eyes.
"Impatient, are we? Well, I will tell you why we are after you... But you need to accept first our deal. After all, it won't be fun if we obey the words of a traitor, right?" the man said as he drew a sword from its sheath.
"I don't have time for any fun, Mister." the violet-haired girl said and tried to guide her horse away from her challenger, but all of the challenger's companions appeared from everywhere, blocking any possible escape routes.
"You can't escape, traitor. If you want to have your freedom, you will have to fight me," the man smirked again with a malicious glint in his eyes.
The violet-haired girl frowned. So it has come to this, huh? She thought to herself. She has no choice right now but to accept the man's challenge.
"Fine. I accept your challenge," the violet-haired girl said and went down from her horse.
"This is going to be very fun! Traitor has accepted our challenge! Now, my fellow knights, watch as I bring this woman to her knees!" the man said and laughed maniacally afterwards. He then went down from his horse
"So before the fight, I want to tell you the rules. A game without rules is not fun, don't you think?" the man said, still grinning.
"Say what you want. Just continue on and let's finish this fight already," the violet-haired girl said, growing more impatient and angry.
"Oh, you really are an impatient woman, aren't you? Well, it would be unfair if only you could get the longer end of the stick, right? So we will have a deal. If you win, you will get to know the whereabouts of my master and why we're after you. But if I win... You will be taken with us to our master without any further explanations. No need to ask whether you accept, after all you will accept it in the end, right?" the man said.
"Oh well whatever, I will just make sure that you will end up 6 feet below the ground after this fight!" the violet-haired girl said and rushed towards the man.
"We will see," the man said with interest in his tone of voice.
But before the fight could even start, a group of horses from the other side of the deep forest were running towards the group, distracting the violet-haired girl and the man. Along the group of horses was a white stallion. Its rider was a white-haired man with deep blue eyes that is similar to the eyes of the violet-haired girl. They locked eyes for a split second, before the white-haired boy broke contact and crossed swords with the knights that were surrounding the violet-haired girl.
For a minute there, the violet-haired girl was left astounded, not knowing why there was a spark that seemed to connect her and the rider of the white stallion. But then she was pulled from her trance when her challenger spoke.
"Tch. We didn't even get to start our fight. Sadly, we will have to withdraw from here. You escaped, for now. Know that wherever you are, you can't escape from us. You can't escape from the clutches of my master. Knights, withdraw!" the man said and galloped away from the attackers along with his companions.
The violet-haired girl sighed. She didn't know that she has held her breath all along. She tried to calm herself. She was being chased for 3 days in a row by those jerks.
"Hah... Thanks to them, I escaped from those jerks," she said while trying to catch her breath.
After a few seconds, a white stallion came to her and its white-haired rider came down from it. The violet-haired girl stared at the guy as if he's a glorious god who went down from the heavens. She noticed how handsome the guy is and she blushed.
"Milady, are you fine? Did they do something bad to you?" the white-haired boy asked her, with concern in his eyes.
That question snapped her of her trance. She didn't know that she was staring at the boy for so long. Her face went crimson when realization dawned upon her.
"U-um... I'm f-fine. Thanks for saving me earlier," she manage to say despite the fact that she feels really embarrassed right now.
"No, it's nothing. And I'm glad that they didn't hurt you anywhere. If you are fine with it, can you tell me why are you involved with those guys? They are dangerous you know," the white-haired boy said.
The violet-haired girl didn't speak. Instead, she frowned and she hid her eyes behind her bangs. The white-haired boy realized this.
"Oh sorry for being too nosy. If you can't tell us, then it's fine. What's your name?" the white-haired boy asked instead.
The violet-haired girl looked up.
"I am Claire," she said.
"Oh, what a nice name! Well then, I'm Zen. It's nice to meet you," he said and held out his right hand to her.
The girl then noticed the hand. She took it with her left hand and they did a handshake. She smiled sincerely and Zen can't help but be stunned at her appearance.
"It's also nice to meet you."
"Ugh... Huh?!"
A body fell down from his bed and he let out a girlish yelp. He stood up from the edge of the bed and is mumbling some words such as ouch, it hurts, etc. When reality dawned upon him, he realized that he was panting and his shirt is drenched in sweat. He realized that he was having a dream.
"A dream again, huh." he said as he sat up on his bed.
When he sat, he can't help but think back to his dream. Even though it's a bit blurry in his memory, he's sure that he's dreaming again of that girl, Claire Nishizono.
How did he know? It's because he's been having the same dreams for the past 2 years, ever since Shirayuki left the palace to Lyrias. Probably not at all same, but he's sure that his every dream during the past 2 years were all about that girl, that girl that he thought he has forgotten.
Every time he wakes up from his long slumber, he notices that his heart is beating wildly and he's always trying to catch his breath. It's as if he's being chased in the dream world.
"Why now.. Why haunt me now? I thought I have moved on from you... And yet, you are appearing in my dreams. What do you want to tell me?" Zen asked to no one in particular.
It is an unanswered question. Why is this happening? Why does she appear in her dreams?
Oh there's no need to worry about her, right? After all, it happened in the past. There's no point in living in the past.
All his worry disappeared when Mitsuhide came running on his door, abruptly waking him up from all his worries.
"Zen, Shirayuki and the others have returned from Lyrias!" Mitsuhide said in an overexcited tone when Zen opened the door for him.
All worries that were clouding Zen's mind dissipated when he heard that Shirayuki is going to return from Lyrias. It was replaced with a mixture of happiness, excite, surprise, repeat. He surely did miss Shirayuki.
"I think, there's no reason to worry about someone who only exists in past, right?" Zen mumbled to himself as he prepared himself to welcome Shirayuki, Ryuu and Obi from their long journey in Lyrias.
Please review, thanks!
