Welcome to Diamonds and Rubies!

This is a AU Drinny songfic with some Romione on the side. I featured Draco and Ginny's relationship in my first story and I grew to love it. I also have been reading a lot of Drinny stories and I love the dynamic between the two characters.

Draco Malfoy won't be a complete douche in this story. I really don't like how he's a prejudice prick in the series. He will still have his arrogance and will pick with Harry, Ron, and Hermione sometimes because that's just in his nature, but none of that Mudblood/ blood traitor ish. Too much like racism.

Ginny, Hermione, and Ron will pretty much be the same way they are in my other story.

For y'all Harry fans, this story isn't for you. Harry is a butt in this story.

I have made edits and added or taken a few things in or out, so if you read this on FFN and you see something different or missing on Wattpad, that's why. I assure you though that this is all mine. I'll crucio someone trying to take my baby (my works are my babies lol)!

Anyways I hope you like it. As always read and review!

Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter nor the wonderful world J.K. Rowling has created. I also do not own any of the songs that are used in this fic.

I'm not loving you, the way I wanted to

What I had to do, had to run from you

I'm in love with you but the vibe is wrong

And that haunted me, all the way home

So you never know, never never know,

Never know enough, 'til it's over love

'Til we lose control, system overload

Screaming' "No! No! No! N-No!"

Chapter 1: Trouble in Paradise

All she wanted to do was punch him in the face. Give him a busted lip to go along with that scar on his stupid forehead.

Once again Harry Potter had proven just how much of a prat he was. Not only receiving letters from other females at her own damn house, but actually replying to the slags.

Apparently Ginevra Weasley had no reason to be upset. "They were friends way before this Chosen One nonsense" said Harry Potter, when Ginny addressed him about getting letters from Susan Bones and Hannah Abbott.

"Bullshit! They know you have a girlfriend why would they even write you? That's totally disrespectful!" she yelled at Harry as he sat there and looked at her unfazed.

Harry shrugged. "I can't help that I have female friends, Gin. It's not that serious. You're acting like you're jealous or something."

"Oh shut up!" she said as she went upstairs to her brother Ron's room.

She didn't even knock as she opened the door to his room to find Hermione sitting at the edge of Ron's bed, reading a book, while Ron was resting his head on her lap.

"Hermione I-"

"Shhh...he's sleeping. Finally, after trying to nag me to stop reading" said Hermione with a giggle.

Ginny gave her a small smile and sat on the floor.

"Something bothering you? asked Hermione putting her book down on Ron's bed.

"Are you sure he's asleep? I don't want him to hear anything."

Hermione waved her wand around Ron's head and whispered "Muffliato" so he couldn't overhear anything.

"Now, tell me what's bothering you" said Hermione giving Ginny her full attention.

"It's Harry and his stupid fan club. It's driving me insane." growled Ginny balling up her hands into fists.

Hermione shook her head. She knew full well what Ginny was mad about. It was something her and Ron had discussed as well.

Since the summer before 6th year when The Daily Prophet started telling the truth about Voldemort's return and the prophecy, Harry had been dubbed 'The Chosen One', and with that came even more fame that he never even dreamed of. Pair that with the fact that Harry had grown into his looks and body, and it seemed that every girl in Hogwarts wanted him. Even Slytherins.

Ginny landed him however in the middle of his 6th year. They had just won the Quidditch Cup. They had shared a passionate victory kiss, and the rest seemed to be history.

At the beginning of the relationship, it seemed that Harry was completely devoted to Ginny. He seemed like the perfect boyfriend. But as the relationship went on and his fame grew, Harry had developed an ego that could rival Draco Malfoy's. And no one that truly knew him liked this new Harry Potter at all. Especially Ginny.

"I could say not to worry about it because you are the one dating him, but I'm not you." said Hermione absentmindedly stroking Ron's hair. "I can imagine that it's really hard on you. I know it's hard on us hearing him go on about himself so much lately."

"I can't help but worry. He's changed. He isn't the same Harry that he used to be. I don't know who that boy is downstairs Hermione, and it scares me." said Ginny playing with a thread on her jeans.

"You have spoken to him about it of course." said Hermione.

"Numerous times." said Ginny. "He just keeps a giving me the same old tired lines. But today he had the gall to say I'm jealous. No you bitch, I would just like for MY boyfriend to pay attention to ME. Is that too much to ask? For him to focus on what's right in front of him?"

"I get what you mean on that one. You know that." said Hermione looking down at Ron.

"Oh. I'm sorry Hermione." said Ginny. "I'm sure he will say something someday. Hopefully before he's 20. At least you two have gotten much closer since that Lavender Brown business."

Hermione laughed. "It's okay. And you're right. He is a lot sweeter and seems flirty these days. He's so adorable." she said kissing him on the forehead.

"Wow" laughed Ginny. "You're just taking advantage of him while he's sleeping aren't you?"

"Oh he doesn't mind. See? He just smiled." said Hermione giggling at Ron grinning in his sleep.

"Maybe I should just leave him alone." said Ginny, as she watched Hermione interact with her sleeping brother. "Maybe I should just let him go until he figures out what he wants and if it's me."

"Oh Ginny, do you really want to do that?" asked Hermione looking concerned.

"Not really. I do love Harry. Loved him since before I had even seen him. But I can't be with someone who won't respect me, you know? Maybe I'll see how things go when we get back to school."

"Yes. That's the true test right there. " said Hermione lightly tracing Ron's face with her finger. "If he acts like that with them right in your face, dump his butt. I'll be there to help hex him for you."

The girls laughed at the thought of Hermione and Ginny combining hexes on Harry. Hermione's Tongue-Tying curse combined with Ginny's Bat-Bogey hex sounded like a force to be reckoned with.

"Thanks for listening Hermione." said Ginny. "And hold on to my brother. He will get it eventually."

Hermione smiled as she lifted the charm off of Ron. Ginny left and went back downstairs. Hermione went back to absentmindedly stroking his hair as her thoughts took over.

She reflected on the years that she felt was lost to Ron and her due to both of them being less than smart about what they had. Now that both of them were starting to acknowledge that there was something between them, it were slow goings.

'Still slow is better than not.' thought Hermione. 'I guess we will see what this school year holds for us.'

"That feels good." said a yawning Ron, taking Hermione out of her thoughts. Hermione looked down to see Ron smiling up at her with his lopsided grin that seemed to only be reserved for her.

"How long have you been up?" asked Hermione.

"Long enough to know that you did something to me to not be able to hear you and Ginny's conversation. What was that about?"

"Well IF I did something to you, it was OBVIOUSLY none of your business." said Hermione pushing Ron's head off her lap.

"Ohhhh no you're going to tell me what it is." said Ron getting up and throwing a pillow at Hermione.

"Never!" yelled Hermione throwing it back at him.

Next thing Hermione knew she was being picked up and slammed gently onto Ron's bed, tortured by tickling.

"TELL ME WHAT YOU TWO WERE TALKING ABOUT!" yelled Ron plopping on top of Hermione.

Hermione was too busy laughing to answer him. She was also slowly becoming intoxicated by the smell of soap, herbal shampoo, and Ron's...Ron smell. She couldn't really describe it.

Ron lightly kissed her neck ('why why why are you doing this to me?' thought Hermione) and hopped off of her, taking her by the hand and helping her off the bed. "Come on. Mum's gonna call for dinner soon and I still need to pack."

"Maybe if SOMEBODY would have packed his things days ago, he wouldn't have this problem now." teased Hermione.

"Well I can't be like you Miss Organized. Besides if I don't procrastinate, what would you do with yourself if you couldn't tell me what to do? I give your life purpose"

"I would get a lot more reading done that's for sure"

"Be still my broken heart." said Ron, dramatically clutching his chest.
