Ayeee. I've been super busy lately. Went on vacation and lots of homework... :/ luckily I found some time to write this little piece :D

A single tear fell from her hazy eyes. She inhaled the sweet sickly smell of the firewhiskey in the glass she was holding. How did she not realize sooner?

It was Hermione's eighth year of Hogwarts. She had returned after the Battle of Hogwarts to complete her formal wizarding education. Harry and Ron had not joined her, instead training to become aurors. Hermione was in her favourite place: the library. She admired her stack of books and turned only to crash into someone. Hermione mumbled apologies hurriedly and rushed to pick up her books. A shiver overtook her and she looked up to meet a pair of stormy steel eyes...

Swirling the amber liquid, she sighed. They had become friends of a sort that year. He had changed and apologized to her for his misdeeds in the past. It had taken her a bit but she eventually forgave him. Until one day... She remembered that fateful day like it was yesterday,

She stopped suddenly at the sound of a distraught voice. "How can I possibly love her?" A platinum blonde haired male whispered. "It can't be that but... when she smiles. I don't feel so unpure and dirty anymore."

Hermione didn't know what to think. Malfoy must be playing some sick joke. She saw red, how could he do that once she gave him her trust. She confronted him, "Malfoy! What type of joking nonsense are you spouting? How dare you try to trick me into such foolish things! That.. that YOU LOVE ME!"

Draco looked up at her with tired yet sincere eyes, "Hermione..."

"Don't call me that! Please don't speak to me again!" She walked away... not realizing what she had lost.

She replayed that time and he had held true to what she said. After that, he never spoke to her again. Hermione never wanted to either not until it was too late. Being the brightest witch of her age, she understood her heart when it was not meant to be. Sitting there she stared down at at an embossed letter...
