Another Uzumaki: Naruto's Sister? (Naruto Fanfiction: Uchiha Itachi/OC)

Standard disclaimers apply!

Summary: Uzumaki Akira is the first child of Namikaze Minato and Uzumaki Kushina. After they died, she took sole responsibility of raising her brother regardless of her young age. Akira and Naruto were able to live in bliss, satisfied with the things that they have despite being constantly tormented by most of the villagers. However, the peace they settled for did not last long.

Akira got involved in the Uchiha Massacre and mysteriously went missing. But, to everyone's surprise, she reappeared 5 years laterーlooking exactly the same as before!

What is the truth behind her disappearance? With the notorious Akatsuki causing misfits around the world and abducting all Jinchuurikis, what will Akira do, given that Naruto is one of their targets and her lover is one of her enemies?

Amidst the heavy downpour that enveloped the entire village, a certain girl rushed out of her house empty-handed and headed straight to the hospital. It happened right after she received a call, which contained a news she never wished to hear in her entire life.

Upon arriving at her destination, many people were startled by her appearance. She was completely drenched from head to toe and was out of breath. It was obvious that she ran quite the distance. The girl was about to approach the reception desk when she bumped into someone.

"Akira," a voice called out to her and she felt a hand grab her shoulder. She looked up and her gaze met a slightly widened pair of onyx irises. It was Itachi's.

"What are you doing? You should have taken an umbrella with you," he reprimanded, brushing the drenched pink locks away from her face.

Akira simply pulled away from Itachi and asked with urgency, "W-Where's Shisui?"

And, there came a brief moment of silence. The young Uchiha looked away, hesitant to reply. "...He's in Room 634."

"The sixth floor?" she muttered, her voice becoming weaker with each word that left her mouth. "But that's the floor for theー" dead.

Fighting the urge to cry, Akira's hands curled into fists. She ran towards the said room while Itachi only stood in place, watching her disappear from the corridor.

After pacing the hospital's flight of stairs, Akira finally arrived at the floor of her destination. She then walked slowly, as if giving her heart the time to prepare for the worst. Her footsteps were drowned in the sound of weeping that had filled the entire aisle, and the screaming of her mind that refused to acknowledge what just happened.

She remembered Itachi's call. "Shisui jumped off the river. He's"

No! was the word that continuously echoed in mind. Shisui was not that kind of person, she was sure. There's no way he could have ended his own life!

Before the young girl realized, she had already reached the room. Akira was about to open the door when her hand froze midway. A wave of fear overwhelmed her upon hearing a familiar voice inside. She could hear Shisu's mom crying.

"You don't have to force yourself," Itachi muttered from behind. "You're not yet ready."

Akira only stood in silence. After what seemed like forever, she finally reached for the handle of the door. "I have to see him. I need to," she said.

Itachi gazed at her trembling hand. He took hold of the other one and squeezed it reassuringly. Together, they entered the room.

Immediately, Akira took notice of the body covered in a white cloth and her breath instantly hitched. Beside the body stood Shisui's mother who was being comforted by his father.

"Oba-san," Akira silently called. The lady turned to look at the new entrants and upon recognizing the young Uzumaki, she immediately took her in an embrace. Akira gently patted her back and offered condolences.

After being released from the hug, she noticed Shisui's father glaring at Itachi. She looked around and realized that almost everyone present in the room were doing the same thing. The situation confused her, but her attention was soon averted away when Itachi led her to the marbled bed where her friend supposedly lay.

Akira pulled away the sheet to reveal Shisui's face. Almost immediately, all strength left her body. Her hands slammed the marble in fury and, at the same time, to support her weakened knees.

Itachi watched her suppress her tears. He knew all too well what Akira was likeーa girl who kept a strong and cold facade but was actually soft and caring in the inside.

With clenched teeth and tearful eyes, Akira cupped Shisui's face and caressed it gently. She was definitely going to miss him. He was one of her very few treasured friends.

In the middle of stifled cries, her hand caught something that immediately bothered her. She looked at Shisui's closed eyelids and was surprised to feel that both of his eyes were missing.

As soon as they left the hospital, Akira discussed her findings with Itachi. It was still raining outside and, luckily, the latter one brought an umbrella.

"His eyes aren't with him," she muttered, but it was loud enough for Itachi to hear.

He looked at her, a bit surprised. It was the first time that someone actually noticed that it was missing, instead of destroyed. Even the medical team assumed that it was the latter idea. Itachi mocked confusion. "Really?"

"You didn't know?!" she exclaimed. "It's obvious that someone took it 'ttebaii!"

"He jumped of a cliff, Akira," he tried to reason out. "Maybe it got crushed when he fell."

Akira went silent, completely taken aback by his answer. "Why did he commit suicide?" she hesitantly asked.

"He left a note saying that he's tired of his responsibilities."

Akira stopped in her tracks and gave Itachi a look of disbelief. "That's stupid. There's no way he would have took his own life for that!"

Itachi only remained quiet and stared at her. Few seconds had passed and Akira knew that he didn't plan on talking. She sighed heavily. "Why won't you tell me anything?"

"Because there's nothing for me to tell," Itachi said in his usual tone, as if nothing's wrong. They continued their walk in silence.

I'm sorry, Akira. Itachi apologized in his mind. Knowing too much will cause you harm.

At that time, the Uchiha was constantly being disregarded by the village, resulting to discontent and frustration. The Uchiha Clan was planning a coup d'etat, and the village was on the brink of civil war. He, nor Shisui, did not want to cause her harm and decided to keep in the dark.

As soon as the two reached the Uzumaki house, Akira and Itachi immediately noticed a boy standing outside of the front door, wearing a ragged raincoat while holding an umbrella on his right hand.

"Naruto?" Akira called.

The boy, upon noticing the arrival of his sister, immediately ran and embraced her tightly. "Nee-chan! Why did you suddenly run off like that?" he asked with a pout.

"I went to the hospital," she replied with a small smile and ruffled his blonde hair gently. "Well, what are you doing here? It's raining. You should go back inside."

"I was going to search for you 'ttebayo! Since you also forgot your umbrella!" Naruto rubbed his nose with a proud smile. A familiar man walked up to them and upon recognizing him, Naruto turned to his older sister with a grin. "Good thing your boyfriend fetched you, nee-chan!"

Akira blushed in embarrassment. "H-He's not my boyfriend!"

Naruto ignored her and gestured a thumbs up at Itachi. "Thank you for walking home my nee-chan, boyfriend-niichan!"

"No problem," Itachi replied, smiling back at the boy. The pinkhead glared at him and hit the back of his head.

"You should have denied it, stupid!" she chided, before giving Naruto her trademark warning look. The little boy shrieked and immediately ran back to the house. Akira sighed.

"See you tomorrow," Itachi said.

Akira nodded. "Yeah, see 'ya. And, by the way, tell Sasuke-kun to stop bullying my brother."

"That's my line," he smirked. With a wave of his hand, Itachi then disappeared completely.

"A date, huh?" Naruto teased as he peeked from the door.

"Eh? Did you say something?" she asked with a fake smile, but her menacing aura definitely gave her away. Naruto yelped and escaped as his sister ran after him.

As soon as they entered the house, Akira and Naruto had their dinner: ramen. Sadly, since she left in a haste, Akira forgot to cook a more decent meal.

"Nee-chan," Naruto muttered in between his munches. "Will you help me with my homework?"

Akira glanced at him as she blew the heat away from the noodles. "Your reason?"

"Of course, it's to defeat Sasuke!" he said and determinedly raised his hand. "Will you help me now?"

"No. Do it yourself."
