Alright, so this is something that I typed out on a whim. I didn't think it through beforehand, and I don't think it's that good. In fact, I want to step on it. But I won't. Because I'm crazy like that.

Warnings(?): Mild language, vaguely violent themes, slight Ed-abuse. Everything's quite watered-down, and I don't think anyone will be forever scarred should they happen upon this. (Unless, of course, it's because it was so amateurish.) Anyway...

"Hey! Elric!"

He turns around slowly to face the two hulking menaces as they call out to him, and they smirk.

"Peter. Allen. I'm kind of busy right now."

They chuckle conspiratorily at this, and send each other sideways glances like 'Does he really think that'll work?' Edward has tried out similar excuses on them everyday for almost a week, but none of them has done anything to get these two jackasses off his case.

"I saw you talking with whatshername--the school nurse today," starts off Peter.

"She ask you about those bruises?" Allen finishes the question. As if it were rehearsed. Or maybe they're just twins, seperated at birth and reunited to reign terror on the world.

"N-nah. She was just..thinking I looked a little pale. I told her I ate some bad tuna."

A snort from Peter. (Or was it Allen? His eyes are downcast so he can't be sure.) They step forward, he steps back.

"And she believed that? Didn't think to ask why you look like someone smeared grape jelly all over your face?"

Fists clench in dangerous but familiar defiance. Golden eyes smolder, ever so slightly. It'd be easier if he played meek, if he didn't let his mouth get ahead of him, but these two never fail to piss him off.

"Well, maybe if you'd do a better job of hiding them...Or better yet, if you hadn't dubbed me as your goddamned punching bag in the first place..."

They're less than twenty feet away now, and all of his backing up has got him against the school's entrance gate. Maybe if he runs, catch them by surprise...but it's over six blocks to his house and though he hates to admit it, their legs are longer than his own.

"Are you being smart with us, Blondie?"

"You know we hate that. And your girly little face deserves to get messed up. Man, it looks like you got on makeup!"

Shit. He just knows he's going to lose it now. Any scrap of self-control he was trying to hold on to is lost, and as his neck snaps up and he rushes towards them, he thinks helplessly to himself 'This is suicide.'

Their mouths are streched into mirthless smiles, and as Allen slumps his shoulders forward to meet Edward's quickly advancing form, Peter quickly cracks the knuckles on his right hand, and then the left. Adrenaline rises and visions of a blonde lying crumpled in the dirt is as good as a promise.
