Note: Dragon Ball is an anime that's based on a franchise created by Akira Toriyama.

Vegeta and Piccolo were two of the strongest fighters, that the world had ever seen. They used to use their abilities and powers, for evil purposes. However, both of them realized how meaningless and heartbreaking it is, to be evil. They eventually left their life of crime behind and joined the forces of good. Although they often acted grumpy and didn't always get along with the other heroes, they kept doing the right thing and helped the good guys defeat the villains.

Despite their rise of morality, Vegeta and Piccolo's rivalry also started rising. Since their strength was so similar, both of them argued, about who the better fighter was. Both of them had big egos, so they both thought they were the strongest and most opposing threat, that the world had ever come across. They both wanted to prove their true strength. Their friends tried to get them, to leave this petty rivalry behind and be friends. However, Vegeta and Piccolo were acting too stubborn, to do the mature thing.

One day, Vegeta was paying Bulma a visit. He stood in front of mirror, so he could show off his muscles. He smugly said, "I'm the strongest fighter around, aren't I?"

Bulma answered, "You're one of the strongest."

Vegeta frowned and replied, "Come on, Bulma. You should be calling me the strongest. Although there are a few people, whose strength is similar to my own, I know I can show them who's boss."

Bulma put her hand on Vegeta's shoulder and responded, "You've made a lot of progress, ever since you stopped being evil. However, your pride still gets the better of you."

Vegeta replied, "That's not true."

Piccolo walked to Bulma's house, because he correctly assumed Vegeta would be there. He started knocking on the door. Bulma opened the door and waved to Piccolo. She tried to be the peacekeeper, when Vegeta and Piccolo acted like self-obsessed extremists. She said, "Hi Piccolo. It's good to see you."

Piccolo smirked and replied, "It's going to be good to see Vegeta."

Vegeta smirked back and responded, "I can understand. After all, I'm rather handsome." Bulma nodded.

Piccolo replied, "It's only going to be good to see you, because I'll enjoy seeing your face, after you've lost the battle."

Vegeta gave Piccolo a menacing stare, while saying, "So, you want to have another battle?"

Piccolo answered, "You bet I do. You think you're the best fighter around. Your common sense must be suffering a terminal illness, for having such an absurd opinion."

Vegeta replied, "You're delusions are grand, my dear Piccolo, because you couldn't be more wrong. Nobody's strength can outmatch mine. I could defeat over nine-thousand opponents, if I wanted to."

Piccolo smiled and responded, "I almost feel sorry for you, because you're in such desperate denial, that you've started claiming the impossible. Nobody could defeat over nine-thousand opponents, you overly-confident goofball."

Vegeta angrily replied, "How dare you call me a goofball. I'm going to punch your daylights out, you clueless simpleton."

Bulma didn't look seeing her friends fight. She wasn't sure, if she'd able to get them to stop fighting, but she knew she should try. She had a concerned look on her face, while saying, "You guys need to cut it out."

Vegeta replied, "I'm just explaining what Piccolo's truly like. During our previous fights, there's been an official winner. I believe we can change that, by having a battle, with just the two of us. There won't be any distractions, other rivals, or anything else, that will get in our way."

Piccolo smiled and responded, "That's an excellent idea, Vegeta. In fact, the reason I came here, was so I could suggest a similar type of fight. Although we don't get along with one another, we have a similar thinking process."

Vegeta smugly replied, "As true as that is, I'm far more attractive." Bulma nodded.

Piccolo smirked and responded, "Unlike you, I don't need to brag about my looks, in order to look superior. I prove my usefulness, by being the strongest fighter and having more dragon balls, than anybody else."

Vegeta stuck his hand out and replied, "Hold on there, you corny fella. I have tons of dragon balls. There's no way you could more than me."

Piccolo responded, "Don't count your success, before you've counted your dragon balls, Mr. Confidence." Piccolo had a few of his friends come in and bring the crates, that contained his dragon balls.

Vegeta said, "I was expecting you to bring your collection of dragon balls, as a cheap way of showing off. Because of that, I've also brought my dragon balls." Vegeta opened Bulma's closet and started dragging his crates of dragon balls, to the living room.

Vegeta and Piccolo didn't trust one another, to count fairly. Because of that, Vegeta turned to Bulma and said, "We need you, to count how many dragon balls we have."

Bulma sighed and replied, "Very well then." She opened the crates and started counting, while Vegeta and Piccolo kept sharing childish insults, with each other.

After several minutes of counting, Bulma looked at Vegeta and Piccolo, while saying, "You both have a similar amount and you have too many, so I'm not going to count them all."

Piccolo looked at Vegeta, while saying, "We should forget about who has the most dragon balls, so we can start getting ready, for the ultimate fight. I'll meet you on the battlefield, in five days."

Vegeta replied, "Very well then." After Piccolo walked away, Vegeta said, "I have to find a way, to get more dragon balls. If I get more than Piccolo does, that will lower his confidence, which will give me the advantage I need, to win the fight."

Meanwhile, Chi Chi was having a garage sale. A few months ago, she warned Goku, that she'd sell whatever he had in his attic, unless he cleaned the attic and got rid of the junk, that he didn't need. Goku claimed he'd clean the attic, but he kept forgetting.

Chi Chi was selling several boxes of stuff, at a very cheap price, because she wanted the stuff gone, as soon as possible. She was selling every single item Goku had kept in his attic, including books, DVDs, videos, computers, and headbands. However, the most important thing, that Goku had been keeping in his attic, was his collection of dragon balls.

A few minutes later, Vegeta walked by Goku and Chi Chi's house and saw the garage sale. Vegeta walked by Chi Chi and asked, "Is Goku selling his stuff?"

Chi Chi had an annoyed look on her face, while saying, "I'm selling his crap, because he refuses to clean the attic. If he pays so little attention or care, to the attic, he must not care about this stuff. Besides, it's a bunch of childish things, that he doesn't need."

Vegeta looked around and saw the boxes, that contained Goku's dragon balls. He saw that the dragon balls only costed one dollar, per ball. He had an excited look on his face, while asking, "Are you really selling Goku's dragon balls?"

Chi Chi answered, "I sure am. I don't know why Goku has so many of these things. They look like the things, that Ash and Giovanni keep their Pokemon in."

Vegeta replied, "I'll buy every single dragon ball, that's at this garage sale."

A smile came upon Chi Chi's face, while saying, "You're a lifesaver, Vegeta. I've been wanting to get the attic cleaned out, for so long. The attic had more dragon balls, than anything else. By getting rid of them, you'll be doing me a favor."

Vegeta had a sly look on his face, while replying, "Since I'm doing you a favor, you should do me a favor and let me have all the dragon balls, for free."

Chi Chi replied, "Hold on there, you wise guy, I may want the attic cleaned out, but I'd also like some money."

Vegeta responded, "There's too many dragon balls, for me to count."

Chi Chi replied, "If you give me a hundred dollars, you can take all the dragon balls."

Vegeta responded, "Very well then." Vegeta paid Chi Chi and started grabbing the boxes. He made a few trips, because he had purchased more dragon balls, than he could carry, in a single trip.

A few hours later, Goku and Gohan returned home. After they walked inside, Chi Chi pointed to Goku and said, "Come with me, my dear Goku. I have something very nice, to show you."

Goku replied, "If you say so."

Chi Chi brought Goku to the attic, to show him that nothing was in there and that the attic had been cleaned. Goku had a confused look on his face, because claimed he'd clean the attic, but he didn't remember doing it. He often did things and quickly forget about them, so he put his hand on his chin, while trying to figure out if he cleaned the attic. Chi Chi sighed and said, "You're probably wondering if you cleaned the attic, which is something you forgot to do."

Goku replied, "So, you cleaned the attic?"

Chi Chi answered, "I sure did. I got rid of the garbage, that you didn't need."

Goku asked, "Did you throw it away or something?"

Chi Chi answered, "No, I sold the stuff, at a garage sale."

Goku replied, "I didn't keep important stuff in the attic, so I'll be okay."

Gohan tugged on Goku's shirt. Goku looked at him, while Gohan said, "Your dragon balls were in the attic?"

Goku looked at Chi Chi and nervously asked, "Did you sell my dragon balls?"

Chi Chi answered, "I sure did, you corny simpleton."

Goku was usually brave, but this news made him panic. He started running around the house, while screaming and dancing.

Chi Chi sighed and said, "When it comes to maturing, Goku seems to be a hopeless case. I didn't sell anything, that mattered. His dragon balls were a childish collection, that he didn't. Since that stuff he is gone, he can start focusing on more important things, like learning how to clean."

A few minutes later, Goku walked into Gohan's room and asked, "Did you keep your dragon balls in the attic?"

Gohan answered, "No, they're here, in my room."

Goku asked, "Can I have half of them?"

Gohan said, "I'm sorry, but it's kind of your fault, that your dragon balls are gone. If I gave you some of mine, you wouldn't learn a proper lesson. Besides, I'd feel uneasy, about losing half of my dragon balls."

Goku felt like a failure, because his son had more dragon balls than him. He wanted to keep some of his son's dragon balls, but he didn't feel right about that. Instead, he waited for Gohan to go to bed, so he could take Gohan's dragon balls and sell them. Goku figured he'd feel better about himself, if his son had no dragon balls. That way, he thought he and his son would feel like equals.

Goku held a small garage sale, during the night. Piccolo walked by and saw all of the dragon balls, that Goku was selling. Piccolo looked surprised, while asking, "Are you actually selling your dragon balls?"

Goku answered, "I'm selling my son's dragon balls. I didn't get his permission, but I doubt it'll be a big deal."

Piccolo sarcastically said, "Father of the year."

Goku replied, "Aww, that means a lot to me. Even though you're older than me, you can think of me as a father figure, if you want."

Piccolo rolled his eyes and responded, "I'll buy all of the dragon balls."

Goku replied, "If you give me twenty dollars, you can have all of them."

Piccolo responded, "Okay then." Piccolo paid Goku and took the dragon balls.

A few days later, Vegeta and Piccolo met on a rocky battlefield, so they could have their fight. Vegeta felt loads of confidence, because of all the dragon balls, that he had obtained. He was so filled with confidence, that he started dancing.

Piccolo had an amused look on his face, while asking, "Are you trying to win the goofball competition? If that's the case, you'll finally beat me."

Vegeta replied, "I'm just feeling an extra amount of confidence, my dear Piccolo."

Piccolo responded, "You have no reason to feel that way, Vegeta."

Vegeta replied, "Don't count your statements, until they've been proven wrong." He started opening the crates and pulling out dragon balls. He had a smug smile on his face, while saying, "I may be getting too confident, but you're not getting scared enough, for I've obtained more dragon balls, than you could ever obtain."

Piccolo smiled and responded, "You're the one, who should be watching your statements, because I've obtained a new collection, of dragon balls." He started opening some boxes, so he could present his new dragon balls.

Vegeta gritted his teeth and said, "I was going to get more dragon balls than you, so you would lose your confidence, as well as the fight. However, you got the same idea, that I had."

Piccolo replied, "Like I've already told you, we have a similar way of thinking. Our minds and strength are very similar. However, that doesn't mean we have to start bonding." He paused and said, "Well, if you'd like to start sharing friendship cards, after I beat the heck out of you, I suppose that'd be alright."

Vegeta shook his head and responded, "You don't know what you're talking about. You're about as misguided and crazy, as humanly possible, even though you're no human."

Piccolo replied, "I may not be a human and I certainly don't look like one, but I act more like a regular human being, than you do."

Vegeta responded, "Your insults are as cringy, as Goku's cleaning abilities. Instead of throwing angry sentiments around, I believe we should start fighting."

Piccolo replied, "If you say so."

Vegeta started blasting Piccolo. Piccolo landed on the ground. Vegeta started laughing, while thinking he had already won. However, Piccolo got up and started punching Vegeta. Vegeta started punching Piccolo, while trying to use his fast agility. Piccolo started kicking Vegeta. Vegeta kicked Piccolo in the stomach. Piccolo needed a few seconds, to get over that, but Vegeta didn't provide him with that. He kept punching and kicking Piccolo. Vegeta had a smug smile on his face, while saying, "I'm dominating this fight."

Piccolo replied, "That's been the case, so far. However, I'm ready for my real power, to shine out." He started blasting Vegeta. Vegeta started blasting Piccolo. Vegeta tried to maintain his confident image, but Piccolo's blasts were stronger, than he was expecting.

Piccolo blasted Vegeta across the rocky area. Vegeta accidentally crashed into his and Piccolo's boxes of dragon balls. Vegeta looked down and saw that he was about to fall off the cliff, along with the boxes of dragon balls. Piccolo looked around and saw that he had two options: He could save Vegeta or save the dragon balls.

Meanwhile, Chi Chi and Goku were having lunch, while in their living room. Gohan walked up to them and said, "My dragon balls are gone. I've spent days looking for them, but they suddenly went away."

Chi Chi replied, "That's a curious problem. You're much more organized, than Goku."

Goku said, "I sold Gohan's dragon balls, so I could feel better about myself."

Chi Chi angrily stared at Goku and asked, "You sold your son's toys, because you were making a fuss, about losing your own toys?!"

Goku answered, "More or less."

Chi Chi frowned at Goku, while saying, "Go to your room. You're grounded, for the next two weeks." Goku started heading to his room, while Chi Chi said, "I'll never understand, why that guy obsesses over silly toys."

A quick moment later, Piccolo grabbed Vegeta and saved his life. The dragon balls fell off the cliff and crashed to the ground.

Vegeta had a confused look on his face, while asking, "Why did you save my life? You could of defeated me and grabbed all those dragon balls."

Piccolo replied, "Vegeta, you may be my rival, but that doesn't mean I hate you. I would of liked, to get more dragon balls, but saving a friend's life is more important."

Vegeta responded, "Come on, Piccolo. Do you think we're friends? We always fight and act like petty braggers, when we're around one another."

Piccolo replied, "That's true. We've let our egos stop us, from having a strong friendship. We're both very similar and strong. Instead of trying to beat one another, we should be hanging out."

Vegeta responded, "You did save my life, so I don't feel the desire, to beat you up and prove my superiority." He sighed and said, "I've been a jerk, haven't I?"

Piccolo replied, "We're both guilty of that. Let's forget about that. This rivalry is done."

Vegeta smiled and responded, "Sounds good." Vegeta hugged Piccolo. Although Vegeta and Piccolo had strong fighting skills, nothing was stronger than their friendship.
