Kurt straightened his vest as he looked at himself in the mirror.
He hated his Breadstix uniform, but he took comfort in knowing that it was only a summer job.
He had only been working there for three weeks when his boss told him that he was competent enough to serve at a party they were catering.
The party was at Dalton Academy, an all-boys school, in Westerville. They were hosting their annual music showcase, and they always hired on Breadstix for the catering.
He thanked the universe that he didn't know anyone that went there; he was embarrassed enough with his uniform to begin with.

He arrived at Breadstix just in time to help carry boxes out to the trucks and then hit the road.
Finally, after an hour, they were at the back gate of Dalton, and after being buzzed in by the gatekeeper, they could see Dalton in all of its glory.
It was beautiful. It was a large brick building that had fancy windows and white shutters.
Kurt helped carry all of the boxes inside, and then started to set up for the party that was starting in less than 3 hours.
Everyone worked away and before Kurt knew it, it was time to go and serve food to the many guests that had come to Dalton.
Kurt emerged from the kitchen holding a tray of breadsticks and began to circulate through the crowd, passing out food as he went.
The night continued without any problems.
Well, until that boy started singing.
All of the boys that had performed were good, and it was great music to work to, but this boy's voice in particular made Kurt's heart skip a beat.
He was singing an acoustic version of Teenage Dream, which was a genius idea, while bopping up and down adorably on the piano bench, and he had Kurt mesmerized.
At the end of the song the boy introduced himself to the crowd.
"Hi, uh," the boy cleared his throat, "my name is Blaine Anderson. I guess I should've introduced myself before I sang."
The whole crowd laughed and then clapped. Kurt noticed that a group of boys in the corner opposite to him were particularly boisterous.
"Thanks everybody," the boy, Blaine, said as he stood up from the piano and walked off stage.
Kurt's heart dropped, knowing that he probably wouldn't see the boy again.

Finally, after 2 hours, the event was over. Kurt was elected to go collect the money from the headmaster, so he was walking down a hallway, pretending not to be lost.
He pulled out his phone as he was walking and he looked down just long enough not to see someone walking straight towards him until-
BAM!
He had walked straight in to the curly haired boy and dropped his phone.
"Oh my god," Kurt said as Blaine bent over to pick up his phone, "I am so sorry, I should've-"
"It's okay," Blaine laughed, "I think it was my fault too." He handed Kurt his phone and they brushed fingers. It sent a spark through Kurt's fingertips.
Suddenly Kurt had an idea.
"Could you show me where the headmaster's office is? I'm new here." Kurt said and smiled.
Blaine smiled in return and replied, "Sure, it's just this way."
And much to Kurt's surprise, Blaine grabbed his hand.
"Come on, I know a shortcut."
